Annabelle3117's Journal, 07 March 2014

Good morning!! I have lost a grand total of 87.6lbs in one year! I have before/after photos, they're pretty terrifying lol. Back and forth on sharing them but perhaps I will once I get a little more time to work on them. As it turns out eighty-seven pounds is a lot.

I had never been successful in a weight loss program before. The most I had ever lost was twenty pounds here or there and it always came back with a vengeance when I threw in the towel because my plan was unsustainable. Sustainability is HUGE in the long run. If it's not something you can live with, then you wont. I kept all my favorite foods and instead practiced moderation. Eventually I started paying attention to protein/carb content and make further adjustments in that department. Fitness has played an enormous roll in my journey as well. I don't believe I would have lost nearly as much without pushing myself in the gym. I didn't always have a lot of support, my husband jumped off the bandwagon last spring and my mom... lord... "well a little bit ain't gonna hurt ya none!". She was right though, and I learned an extremely valuable lesson.

This past year I learned how to LIVE and LOSE. Not one or the other. I've partied like a rock star, and I've eaten humongous meals with a bajillion carbs, it didn't kill me. In the past that is where I would have fallen flat on my face, ordered a pizza and called it. Nope, that's not how it works. This is my life, it's not a 'time out'. Life is too short for time outs. I'm not going to turn down dinner invitations or drinks with friends, what if I never get another opportunity?? But I will moderate, and adjust the following week to account for it. I have found some balance, and I have learned how to come back from a rough weekend or vacation. Priceless.

Fifty-two pounds to go till I reach my big goal, which will put me in the normal range on the BMI chart. My smaller goals though, are as follows...

1) 186lbs - my 100 pound loss, less than 12.5lbs to go!
2)174lbs - so long 'obese' category of BMI chart

I'll work on more once I meet those. Happy Friday everyone, Have a WONDERFUL weekend :-)

Priceless indeed. Yes, this year has taught you (and me) how to climb back on the wagon after jumping off to see the sights. I think that is truly important and I love the 'lose AND live' recognition, another very valuable thing. Living your life DURING this process instead of thinking it's going to be bliss on tap once you reach the goal and everything else in the middle is just wasted aggravating time... that's been my sop every time (but this time) too and this way IS so much BETTER. Yay you!!!

Congratulations! It has been an honor getting to know you and going on this journey with you. So much has happened in that year. I am about a month away from my one year. I will not be nearly as successful as you...but if I can get back to it...50 pounds is nothing to sneeze at either. I did not concentrate on the exercise and that I believe is the difference. I wish I had done this when I was much younger. I am old enough to be your mother...

Excellent work! Truly the best way to lose is to enjoy the process rather than hate it. That's why I cant stand commercial diets, you have to completely transform your eating habbits on them. Controlling your intake of foods that you love and taking out all the 'crap' that isnt neccessary makes the weight truly just dissappear. Congrats on your progress!

Congrats you did an awesome job and got a great out look. I am still at the beginning of my journey I have lost 26 lbs this year and have 190 more to go but I am not giving up. I have joined curve's and I love thr exercise machines and the class and I am so looking forward to my next goal so that I can set my next one. I ate pizza last night but I stayed under 1800 calories and I ate a light lunch of a salad so it just a matter of contol and knowing what I want and that is to get healthy and active. My goal is to take my dogs for a walk instead of them walking me. Lol!!

How great does that feel? Fantastic!!!. On the pic sharing, not only will I not share pics, I've destroyed old ones. Just not interested in who that person was I guess. Each to their own though. I know I love seeing other people's pics, it is great for motivation, just not my own LOL...I'm so proud of you!

You are an amazing woman! Making changes and sticking with them through good times and bad is hard, but you've kept it up for a whole year! You are so right, moderation is important, and with that you can still enjoy foods, not starve yourself, but at the same time learn what foods are really "worth" the extra calories. You are an inspiration!
