Working mom of 2 kids. I want to be healthy so I can stick around for them as long as possible. I have other health issues, I don't need my diet to start affecting other areas of my health. My main goal through all of this is to get a good handle on my diet. I can commit myself to exercise, which is usually first thing in the morning, but my eating habits are horrible. My kids watch me eating junk and that is what they want too. My husband hates anything to do with vegetables and my kids have picked up on this too, so it's going to be hard to make something healthy that we can all eat. I may have to go it alone on the vegetable front but if I can be healthy it's worth it.

Desserts
I just made a cherry rhubarb crisp this weekend because our rhubarb needs to be used. It is definitely not low cal, but I cut about 150 of the calories from the recipe by not using as much sugar or butter, even then it is still higher calorie than I would normally want. But I will take a small piece and make sure it fits in my calories. If I told myself I can't have it, I would cave and eat too much, but when I allow myself a small serving I can look forward to it, eat it and be satisfied, and still stay within my RDI. Usually, I try to keep sweets out of the house, but sometimes we make them, and I just have to use moderation. Also, after I eat it I go brush my teeth right away, then drink water, that way I don't have the taste in my mouth and think about having more.

Life Style
I sit all day at work too and try to get a workout in 5-6 times a week. I usually put myself at low active because of all of the sitting I do during the day. I find that when I'm trying to calculate calories the low active end is more what I should aim for.

Hello!
I agree with mrspackrat, the calories burned is estimated too high, so if you have a heart rate monitor you may want to use it. I still use the site, but I just know the deficit won't be as much. I'm doing okay, but just staying pretty steady. I'm here to learn healthier habits and the weight loss is a bonut. I've found a lot of great tips on this site and I hope you do too. I hope you find success here!!

Depo Provera
I am currently on Depo and I did gain some weight in the first year or two, but I wasn't eating well or exercising so that didn't help. I've been on it for at least 5 years now and have started eating healthier and exercising and I have been able to lose. I think after your body get used to it things level off, but it takes time. The IUD's are too expensive for me at one shot, but the Depo is more reasonable. I used to blame all of the gain on the Depo, but looking back I'm sure most of it was my eating. I'd talk to your doctor about all of your options before you stop. I hope you find what works for you!

Shakeology
I haven't tried it either, but have looked it up because I've done a few beachbody programs, and it is super expensive. I'd say if you are just wanting a shake for extra protein, buy an over the counter, cheaper one. I will sometimes have a shake because it's quick and easy, but typically I'm like the other posters here and try to do real food instead. The shakes can be filling, but I wouldn't want that to be where all my calories come from.
