Working hard to stay on my food plan - the colder weather seems to cause cravings for carbs and fats. Does anyone else experience this same feeling?

I suppose carbs and fats metabolize differently than proteins to create warmth. Tough luck, body, you will have to burn your OWN fat to stay warm!

The scale was up .6 of a pound today after Anniversary dinner - but should be down again before next weigh-in day.

Today was my monthy volunteer day at the local Alzheimer's Unit where I bring my registered Therapy Pet, Bodhi. He is amazing, and seems to really reach people. I am very proud of him!

YES! I've definitely been craving more carbs, harumph, of the sweets variety for the most part. I've been blaming it on feeling tired with the change in weather and daylight patterns. I forget to try healthy fats to get that more satisfied feeling (love a couple tablespoons of roasted unsalted pistachios). I have noticed that Beau seems much hungrier, too, so it could be a part of nature to try to put on a "winter coat"; good thing we can work around that! Hmmm, could be Beau's hungry from his quest to catch a squirrel though the sliding glass door, lol. Bodhi is so handsome, and I love the smile on the face of the woman he's visiting. He does good work!

Ya, that's it - I'll blame the weather for my cravings ;) Whatever it is, it did seem to coincide with the change of season, shorter days, and cooler weather. How cool to have a therapy pet to take out and brighten the lives of others :)

Wow, I am impressed that you got a sweater on a cat. He is beautiful! What a great service you two are providing, also. Oh, and my convertible is a hard-top, also. I think it wouldn't do me much good to put snow tires on it, though. It is very small and would get stuck in the snow for sure. Good luck battling those winter weather carb cravings.

YEP... same here.. I get cold I want to eat eat eat. So far I've conquered that urge with hot water and lemon and a fresh granny Smith apple but wont lie... would love a big bowl of spicy Chili covered with cheese and a bag of chips...I'm going to have to find a healthy recipe for Chili now.

What a great thing for you and Bodhi to do! I definitely have been so much hungrier lately. I don't know how I stayed in my RDI before. Hope it goes away soon.

I crave carbs all the time LOL...it doesn't seem to matter what the weather is like since I live in So Cal and we are still pretty warm here. Great job on your volunteer efforts, I am sure it brings happiness to those that you visit and good job Bodhi too! I have one cat that would do that, and the other that would hiss at her shadow.

I don't have to worry about eating carbs to stay warm at my house, my hubby keeps the temp around 80 so I spend the winter sweating! =) But comfort food does seem to have a lot of carbs doesn't it. I love carbs which is why I'm here! I think that is awesome that you take your cat for visits. My Gram lives in assistant living and she always talks about the people who come with pets, she loves it.

HCB, I love the pic from your volunteer work. So rewarding, I'm sure. Sounds like you're keeping accountable with the carbs. Good for you. Have a wonderful weekend.

Bodhi looks very sweet and peaceful. I loved your description yesterday of what you ate for your anniversary dinner - that pasta sounded sinful! And garlic bread, as much as you want? I can only IMAGINE. I totally crave carbs in the winter, too, but I think it's a year round thing with me, I ALWAYS want carbs. The Dreamfield's low carb pasta has been a godsend to me - you literally cannot tell the difference! I crave the dopamine release that carbs give you. That's why ALL carbs are difficult for me - it's so hard to stop at half a potato, ONE piece of garlic bread, 1/2 cup of rice, etc. I have really had to learn restraint this year. And congratulations on you 61.4 lost - right now I am at 51.0 lost. Thank you so much for keeping up commenting on my journals lately when I was sick. I really appreciate it. Everyone who knows you on FatSecret knows what an awesome, recriprocal person you are.
