I'm a 55 year old father of 3 (9, 14 and 16 yrs old) and husband of 1.

I'm a data junkie, so I think that this site is really going to continue to motivate me. I am setting several sub-goals in order to keep the motivation up.

These are my goals


Goal 1: Lose 25 lbs, Goal weight: 300 (This is a stall point for me)

Goal 2: Lose 35 lbs, Goal weight: 290

Goal 3: Lose 45 lbs, Goal weight: 280

Goal 4: Lose 55 lbs, Goal Weight: 270.

Goal 5: Lose 65 lbs, Goal Weight: 260

Goal 6: Lose 75 lbs, Goal Weight: 250

Goal 7: Lose 85 lbs, Goal Weight: 240

Goal 8: Lose 95 lbs, Goal Weight: 230

Goal 9: Lose 100 lbs, Goal Weight: 225

Goal 10: Lose 105 lbs, Goal Weight: 220

Goal 11: Maintain weight of not more than 220.0 lbs

My variation I use for a sandwich or Hamburger:

1 egg, 1 tsp butter, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 cup flaxmeal, 1 tsp splenda, 1.5 tsp Garlic and Spice mixture (Weber brand), pinch seasoning salt.

Calorie intake
I think the key is with whatever site or calculation you use, that this is just a ballpark figure, a suggestion. Pick the one that you are comfortable with. If you are not trending the way you want, then you may have to make adjustments either way. The fact that you are now tracking your intake and exercise will help you determining what is the correct number of calories for you.

With regards to the rate, I look at it as motivational feedback. For me, as long as it is saying I'm losing, I know my efforts are paying off. If it says I'm gaining, then I may need to look at performing some adjustments to diet or exercise.
