Lucybell33's Journal, 31 July 2008

Thanks to everyone for all your lovely comments on my last journal! I'm still not doing brilliantly on the eating. I'm just SO tired, so hubby's doing all the cooking, and I have developed an aversion to veggies at the moment. Fruit's OK, but the thought of a something like a bit of broccoli just turns my stomach! Pasta, bread, potatoes, cheese, tuna are all acceptable to my delicate stomach, but little else.

Anyway, according to the What to Expect site, I should have only gained around 1.8lb by this stage (week 8), so I do need to try to be more careful. It's just so hard when I feel so faint and nauseous all the time - and the only thing that helps is something like a ginger biscuit!

Hope all my fabulous buddies are doing OK. I'll check up on you as soon as I can! xx

Hello, it's lovely to hear from you and I do sympathise the first few months do play havoc with the taste buds, i do remember, although quite a long time ago now that i went off alot of foods that I once loved. I'm sure all will improve and you'll be able to eat much better later. Ginger is supposed to be good for the stomach so perhaps try a herbal teabag, or grate a little fresh ginger add with some honey to boiled water and let steep a few mins. I hope it's not too long that you're feeling better and try not to worry about the weight gain, all will be well and take care, all the best :)Denise

Thanks Denise. I'm sure I felt the same way last time, but because I wasn't worrying about what I ate anyway, it didn't bother me so much. The ginger tea's a great idea - I think I have some lemon & ginger herbal tea, so I might just try a cup now! PS Congratulations on your continuing weight-loss - your graph is looking fantastic! :)

Wow, I saw your name flashing and said I should check out how you are since I haven't seen you online in a while. The first thing I saw was that you were over your goal weight which surprised me so I went in to read your journal and got a real surprise! I AM SO EXCITED for you! How neat that you are pregnant! I am sorry you are feeling bad. Hopefully that will pass soon. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy!

Thank you Kelly! Last time around this constant nausea only lasted a couple of weeks, so I'm hopeful about it passing soon.

Oh my goodness! Congratulations on your wonderful news! I'm sorry I was away on holiday and missed your initial announcement. I'm so happy for you! That's unfortunate about your tummy issues. Was that an issue when you were pregnant with your son? Anyway, I wish you a happy, healthy pregnancy and hope you keep journalling and let us know how you are doing. *hugs*

Yes, ginger cookies, Mint Tea, a soda cracker before you get out of bed is supposed to really help many mommas get through their day, too. :) Eating tenderly to stay afoot, is key. One thing that I did, when my stomach behaved, was to really focus on the 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day, whole grains and lean meat... dairy of coarse, but for me wasn't an issue, LOVED fat free milk and yogurt, cheese, you name it! lol :) You'll be through the 1st trimester before you know it and into the niceness of the 2nd! Hang in there and try to keep active, it'll help keep the gains down, and you'll feel so much better, too. Take good care!!

Yes, that naseau is hard to deal with. You just need to eat what you can. I'm sure you are eating plenty healthfully. The naseaus feeling is a good sign though of a healthy pregancy so I'm glad to hear that! Get the rest you need now while you can!!

So sorry I missed your posting -- I kept looking around to see if you'd posted recently, but missed this most recent one. Aw, I hope you'll be feeling better soon, as certainly no fun when you're feeling nauseated. Have you thought of eating something wholegrain for breakfast... e.g. shredded wheat, all bran... I know they are classified as WW core list foods (hence only brekkie I'll eat!)... but they might help fill you more for the start of the day and are also a good source of fibre too. Was also thinking maybe low GI foods that give slow energy release... I don't know much about these, but wondered with their slow energy release if they may help with the faintness? Racking my brains and probably not being very helpful!!! Great to hear that hubby is letting you get lots of rest though, I know it's not easy when you've got another little one to run around after. You look after yourself though and get as much rest and sleep as you can. Will be thinking of you... *Hugs* xx
