Hi! My name is Kelly, I'm 50 years old, happily married, and recently retired. I'm 5'7" so my perfect weight would be 135. We'll see how low I can go! 150 would suit me just fine!

I started my journey on the South Beach diet 12/24/07. It has been life changing for me! I had reached my highest weight of 191 and was feeling really lousy both physically and psychologically. I hated the way I looked but couldn't figure out why I couldn't stop eating! It seemed like the bigger I got the more I ate and the more miserable I became. One day while thrift shopping, I came across the South Beach Diet book and decided to buy it. I started reading the book and it all began to make sense. I decided to give the diet a chance and it worked! No more terrible cravings and I felt very satisfied with the foods I was eating. I never really felt like I was on a diet. It has changed my life. My husband has lost about 30 pounds. We have adapted well to this new way of eating and it has changed the way we both look and feel.

For exercise, my husband and I play golf, walk around our subdivision, and have now joined the gym.

Lab report for lipids after 6 months on South Beach:

Cholesterol, Total 185 Limits 100-199
Triglycerides 100 0-149
HDL Good Cholesterol 67 H 40-59
VLDL Cholesterol 20 5-40
LDL Bad Cholesterol 98 0-99

Needless to say, I am very pleased. In May 2007, my triglycerides were 452 and my total cholesterol was 241. Quite an improvement!

What's your Real Age?
My sister told me about Realage.com last December. I took their test and tested out to be close to my actual age (49 at the time). I just took the test again and my results were as follows:

Actual age: 50.4
Difference: -5.8
Realage: 44.6

It said I could improve even more by doing some of the following:

Flossing every day instead of 3 times a week
Eating at least 5 servings of vegetables every day
Take daily vitamin as well as increase the following:
Vitamin C & E
Folate
Potassium
Folid Acid

Trip to Vegas
I would probably come alone depending on the dates but hubby might come if the schedule works for him. He will be out of work for surgery in December so he won't want to miss much work later on.
