Goal Weight:140.0 lb
following: Slim Fast
performance: gaining 0.8 lb a week

My name's Leanne (Lucybell is my Dad's pet name for me - no idea why!), I'm 36 years old and I live in the south of England with my husband, 2-year-old son and two lilac burmese cats. I'm a Marketing Actuary, so spend long hours sat behind a desk staring at spreadsheets or sat in meetings talking about the results from those aforementioned spreadsheets! However, I cut my hours down to 4 days a week when I returned to work after a year's maternity leave in June 2007, so at least I'm only chained to my desk for around 30 hours a week these days!

I started the Slim Fast plan in July 2007 in an effort to finally rid myself of the excess weight I mostly put on during a very unhappy period in my mid to late twenties, when I went up from a fairly stable 9-9.5 stone (around 130lbs) to a peak of over 13 stone (185lbs) not long before I met the wonderful man who is now my husband. I did manage to get down to just over 12 stone (170lbs) for our wedding, but a honeymoon cruise kick started a summer of excess, followed by a somewhat sooner than expected pregnancy, and I piled the weight back on, peaking at a little over 15.5 stone (220lbs) just before the birth of my baby boy in June 2006. After a year at home not making much of an impact, I returned to work in June 2007 (feeling absolutely hideous) and was inspired by a couple of people who'd lost loads of weight whilst I'd been off to give it a proper try.

WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Get down to 10 stone (140lbs) (5 stone (70lbs) total weight loss) in time for my little boy's 2nd birthday party on 14th June. I achieved this weight loss goal on 7th June, so a full week ahead of target!

LONG TERM GOAL: Ensure I gain no more than the recommended 2 stone (28lbs) during my next pregnancy and then get back down to goal weight BEFORE returning to work!

Hello
I wasn't aware that you couldn't, and I certainly have! Confused

TO CARB OR NOT TO CARB, THAT IS THE QUESTION...
I did something similar before my wedding, with reasonable success. It was Joanna Hall's Carb Curfew plan, which is a low GI plan with the added restriction of no carbs after 5pm. The only problem I had with it was the vast amounts of cooking (and washing up) - that just didn't work for me long-term!

I couldn't give up carbs all together, but cutting back on the bread (and biscuits!) in particular has really helped with my weight loss.

Anyway, you've done a great job already and it sounds like you're approaching this in exactly the right way. I agree with MoonLite - everything in moderation!

Good luck!! Very Happy

Feel Great challenge-Week 3
WHAT, (When you deviate from your dieting, what do you eat?)

If I'm just having a slightly bad day, it'll be Domino's pizza and wine, or else if it's a total meltdown, it'll be anything and everything I can lay my hands on!

Solution: I have scheduled monthly pizza nights to keep the pizza cravings under control. Having only healthy food in the house limits the damage in the event of a total meltdown.

WHY (What makes you deviate)

Having a stressful day at work, hubby being away and feeling bored, running out of healthy food...

Solution: I plan my menus a week at a time a week in advance and order all my groceries for delivery at the start of the week, so I always have something planned and all the ingredients to make it.

HOW (When you eat, how much do you eat)

Until bursting point or all the the cupboards are bare!

Solution: Order small pizza and as above, keep only healthy food in the house - there are only so rice cakes you can eat in one go!!

AND WHEN do you emotionally eat?

Always in the evenings. I'm rarely "bad" during the day - if it's going to go wrong, it'll be after 6pm.

Solution: Eat sustaining, healthy snacks during the afternoon to ensure I'm not starving by the early evening.
