Lucybell33's Journal, 27 May 2008

Just a quick update after yesterday's advice (thank you all for your help!) - I've booked in for a health assessment at a private hospital on Monday morning.

It's just their most basic assessment, but includes all the following:

LIFESTYLE TESTS
Medical history and lifestyle questionnaire
Height and weight measurement
Body mass index
Body fat percentage
Hip to waist ratio
Nuffield Body Composition Index
Hydration levels
Urine analysis
Blood glucose and cholesterol measurement
Anti-oxidant level measurement
Computerised spinal assessment
Flexibility measurement
Physiological measurement of resilience to stressors
Blood pressure measurement
Assessment of fitness level
Cancer prevention awareness

ALL FOLLOWED BY:
Discussion of all results and findings at the time of attendance
Discussion of management of any health issues identified
Detailed lifestyle coaching and personalised action plan
Written personalised report with all relevant health fact sheets within two weeks of attending

So, that looks like just what I need to help answer my questions about what my health goals should now be!

That's fantastic! You're leaving no stone unturned there. You will know in no uncertain terms exactly where you stand and where you should be. And, more importantly, you will be able to put your mind and the minds of your loved ones at ease. Great!

I am looking forward to seeing the results of your tests. It will be so informative to share with us all so that we can gauge our own health goals better. I just want to add that your goal should not be to lose any more weight but rather to become and stay healthier. You are already on track in terms of diet and exercise and as long as you maintain that, you look perfect just the way you are. I think family concerns are authentic because if you are like me, you lose weight from the upper body first and so they see your cheeks hollowing and your shoulder bones protruding. What they dont see is the thunder thighs or the sagging belly or the J-Lo butt. Just let them know that you are now attempting to maintain a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family and I am sure they will begin to see things differently.

Awesome! I loved having my doctor so closely involved with my weight loss and all those tests along the way really showed an accurate picture. I'm so glad you're getting all that done, BRAVO! You are an inspiration! Be sure to let us know what you find out.

Yes, your new pic is great, it shows how much you've lost and you're doing great! I am glad that you've found a way to get some help staying on track, it sounds like a great way to get control. ;)

Thanks y'all - I will definitely let you know the results!! :) Nisa - you have hit the nail on the head there - in fact, it was the boniness of my shoulders that my husband has particularly remarked on. Even my tummy is pretty flat now - it's those hips and thighs that are my particular bugbear!

Great to hear that you've booked in for an assessment... I'm sure that will really help with your evaluations of where to go from here. Perhaps lay off Dyna-Band or similar type upper body workouts if your shoulders are toned enough or just do occasionally to maintain that tone. I've found elliptical training great for toning thighs though and pretty sure it must shrink hips too! You look fantastic though Leanne... so be very proud of your achievements. ;o)

Wow that is an awesome test. I'd love to find something like that in my area. I'd do it in a second! Can't wait to hear how it all turns out :D

great pic!! And what a wonderful, full-scope assessment! Is this called a specific type? I'd love my doctor to do all these assessments too--and that'd be a good, objective before and after comparison, rather than relying exclusively on the scales. Good job for being so proactive and making the decision so objectively! Keep us posted with your findings..
