Happy New Year!!

It's been five long months since I last checked in with you all, for which I apologise.

As some of you know, I'm currently pregnant, and the first trimester was pretty tough going, with almost constant nausea, which I could only relieve by eating constantly - with simple carbs being the only acceptable foods to my delicate palate. Not very good for the weight gain - I'd gained around 20lbs by the end of the first 13 weeks - somewhat more than my target of 4lbs!

Anyway, the second trimester was much better sickness-wise, although by then I was so far off the wagon I'd forgotten what it looked like - hence I gained another 15lbs, eek!

So, here I am a couple of weeks into the third trimester, with another 5lbs gain due to the Christmas excesses and I decided it was about time I started getting a handle on my calorie intake to avoid regaining all the weight I lost! So, here I am. Not dieting, but just counting my calories and trying to eat at a maintenance level.

We're having a little girl this time, which will be lovely to complete our family. Finlay's looking forward to meeting his baby sister - well, as much as a 2.5 year old can understand of such things anyway! Here's a 3D scan image of our baby girl at 22 weeks:

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and will have fantastic 2009!!

Oh, how lovely to have the wonders of modern technology give you (and us!) a glimpse of your little bundle of joy! It's so wonderful to hear from you. And good for you for taking charge of your weight issues NOW as opposed to waiting until after the baby is born. I am sure you can keep maintaining and then once your daughter is born, you know what to do! Best wishes!

Happy New Year to you too! Glad you're feeling better than you did during your first trimester. The pic of your little girl is amazing! I'm so glad you posted it so that we can all see your baby daughter. Hang in there and don't worry about losing weight until AFTER your precious baby is born! We'll be here for you! :)

Thank you for sharing that precious pic with us. I know you are so excited about having a little girl. I think you are smart to come back and start getting into the habit of recording calories, eating healthy again, etc without the goal of losing weight. After your baby's birth, you will have a head start.
