Like so many, I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid. When I was eight, my parents and I moved to a neighborhood without other kids so I sat around watching TV and eating. I went from being an active and healthy child to too overweight in a year and it kept going up. A good portion of my family is obese and we are all struggling. A few are on FS with me supporting each other to improve our health.

A few facts about me: I'm a graphic designer and a student in college. I'm a mother to a 12 year old boy. I have 7 nieces and nephews and one great-niece and two great-nephews. I'm 32 and single.

Ultimately, with FS I want to improve my health so that I can in turn teach my son a better lifestyle and not pass on my terrible habits to him. I know the importance of good health. With the love and support of family and friends, the FS community, years of knowledge (yoyo dieting) and the Grace and Strength from my Lord and Savior, Jesus, I know I will succeed.

My highest weight was 395 lbs (April 2009) and now it's time to change all that and make it a thing of the past. Last summer I started gaining again and ended up gaining back 30 lbs, but I'm ready for a change and I'm back on FS to see it happen. Short term goal is to be at least 300 lbs by my birthday, August 21st.

Here are my goals:

#1: 385 (10 lbs lost) - reached 5/15/09 (reward: movies)
#2: 370 (25 lbs lost) - reached 7/31/09 (reward: jewelry), Re-reached 4/25/11 (no reward)
#3: 355.5 (10% from start) - reached 11/6/09 (reward: pedicure)
#4: 345 (50 lbs lost) - reached 4/30/10 (reward: clothes)
#5: 320 (75 lbs lost)
#6: 300 (95 lbs lost and super cool)
#7: 295 (100 lbs lost)
#8: 270 (125 lbs lost)
#9: 245 (150 lbs lost)
#10: 220 (175 lbs lost)
#11: 200 (195 lbs lost)
#12: 195 (200 lbs lost - OH MY!)
#13: 170 (225 lbs lost)
#14: 160 (235 lbs lost and my goal weight)

HELP dealing with temptation
Emotional eating is a problem. My mom had a stroke last week and I went crazy binging on everything I could get my hands on. It was really bad.

The fact is though, even before this happened I had problems with eating things that simply aren't good for me - otherwise I wouldn't be at nearly 400 lbs. I know at the time that what I'm doing is bad for me, but I don't stop. I need to put some steps into place that help me cope, help me stop mixing the cookie dough or making that second sandwich. I've hard people talk about putting pictures on their fridge or creating a mantra that you repeat to yourself (ex/ "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."Wink until the cravings pass. I'm a Christian, so I pray, but I'm still eating very unhealthy. It isn't just what I'm eating but also the amounts.

HELP dealing with temptation
I need advice and coping ideas: what do you do when the urge comes to bake cookies or go to McDonald's? What coping mechanism have you put in place to help with the desire to eat?
