I'm getting brave and entering my Bio after a month on Fatsecret. I'm 56 yrs. of age, with a birthday this December and a goal to lose around 25# before then. At first, I did not want to use the excuse that weight loss is more difficult at my age - but I'm discovering that it is. What worked even 5 years ago doesn't seem to be working for me now. Stress hormones may play a big part as I've experienced some major changes in my life over the past five years: divorced, moved to Hawaii (That doesn't sound stressful, does it?), re-started a career (At my age?!) on a small island with limited opportunities (I did amazingly well!), supported my teenage daughter through all the emotional changes (You and me against the world, baby.), lost my job due to the economy, moved back to California, and now I'm starting over, again. (Aren't I supposed to be dreaming of retirement? Oh well, life happens, doesn't it?)

I'm a strong, determined person but I have to really watch myself cause I can drift toward the negative. I attribute that to a Capricorn OVERLOAD OF EARTH signs. Actually, keeping positive may be a bigger challenge for me than weight loss. I've found that exercise works wonders - especially walking (I used to run) around the lake by my home; it nourishes the body and soul.

I'm really happy about finding this site and I hope to both give and receive support here. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR BEING HERE. I FEEL WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER! HEY, maybe in another month or two, I'll get REALLY brave and post a photo.

Thanks everyone for the input. Divided: I'm a skeptic and a 'bottom line' thinker by nature , so I appreciate your 'to the point' advice. Glutamine
Does anyone out there in Fatsecretland know if it's true, the claim that glutamine can help you lose weight more rapidly by lowering cortisol levels? Confused Any personal experiences? I'm considering whether I should take it and I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!

I have a new smoothie maker...any ideas?
I love Jamba Juice Smoothies and I've been able to make some pretty good ones at home. The key ingredients are: nonfat yogurt (plain is fine), frozen fruits (your choice), juice (apple always works), and most important? Sherbet! A handful of ice, blend everything and Voila! I also freeze bananas and add 1. 1/2 cup of each ingredient works well. Play with your favorite flavors and Enjoy, guilt-free.

Delete Exercise
Yep...you have the option to "increase" or "reduce" the amount of exercise. Reducing the amount of time will effectively delete it. (Example: You entered 1 hour of badmitton; reduce by 1 hour to delete it.) Hope that helps. I've found a few limitations on this site. Has anyone else noticed the amount of calories burned for treadmills, bicycles, etc. does not match up with those given on the gym equipment? Which one is accurate? And if you can manually enter your own info, does anyone know how to? Thanks.
