I'm a single mom who works full time. I have one son (which is PLENTY for me). I'm a travel agent so I'm in front of a computer all day.

I live in Houston. I like to go out and have a good time with friends but don't get a chance much. I hate being single but it's better than a drama filled life! :)

I am totally serious about getting my weight off. I watch the show and would NEVER want to be on it but I will get the weight off in the next year! I know I will have to go through the mental side of the weight loss but I can do it.

I had gastro-plasty in 1997. I weighed 402 lbs when I had the surgery. I have been stuck in the 200's since 1998, fluctuating between 250 and 230. I don't want to be like this anymore!

smaller clothing
I've been so big for so long, I have only bought elastic waisted pants for years so I will keep wearing them until the elastic is too big and I have no choice but to buy something new. I can't stand not being able to fit into a smaller size so I don't shop unless I have to!

BUT...I did buy a new pair of pants to go out with my boyfriend on New Year's Eve and I just had to go buy a belt for them because they are getting too big so that was cool!

Patience is definitely needed in weight loss. I find it much more motivating to congratulate myself for eating well and exercising, regardless of what the scale says. It will catch up eventually, but eating well and exercising are victories in and of themselves. I can't control when the scale will react. It's great when it does, but it certainly isn't the end all-be all of everything.

Try googling "Why the scale lies" if you'd like to read more about why the scale isn't a great measure of progress in the short term.

I totally agree!

Also peanut butter is a good source of protein but also high in fat, use in moderation!
Nuts and beans are great! Any meat of course too.

I am 35, a single working mom also and understand completely. I used to be fun when I was younger and now feel like I'm just this cranky old person stuck in a fat body that is no fun to be around.

I am learning to change that though. RJenkins has a great idea. I haven't done all that but I think about what I have that I'm thankful for. My son's health, the fact that I made the choice to do this, my job, etc, etc. We have to learn how to balance everything so we do not get overwhelmed. That's the hard part! I am now a list maker - I make lists of things that I need to do each morning before we leave for school/work; I have a running grocery list notebook in my purse so if I think of something I can jot it down; I have a list of evening things that we have to do also. I have a calendar with our activities so we know exactly what we are doing that day or week.

You have to find what works for you to make your life easier. I get so stressed that I get hives so the lists help me but they may not be your thing. You have to help yourself first though. Every minute that you have to yourself, use it to relax (even for ONE minute).

We are here for you, keep it up! Smile
