IBS or Celiac
Latest update.... Went to see a GI but was not impressed at all. He dismissed the celiac and pushed Crohn's and Fibromyalgia. He told me that Celiac was not my problem. When I tried to explain while eating low carb all of my symptoms disappeared, he shrugged it off. He told me I was probably lactose intolerant. Funny thing, when I drink milk by itself, I have no issues but if I pour it over a bowl of cereal, that's when the gastro issues begin. He wanted to do a upper and lower GI but I decided before I went threw those tests, I would try some tests of my own. First his lactose intolerant test of drinking a glass of milk first thing one morning. If my gastro issues showed up within 2 hours after drinking the milk, I was lactose intolerant. I did the test and had no issues. I'm not lactose intolerant. Second, I would try eating gluten free. I'm still reading up on the gluten free but I have chose to eliminated as many carbs as possible (breads and pasta). The only carbs I'm eating are coming from fresh fruit and my greek yogurt and so far today my gastro issues are not present. Maybe I should listen to what my body is telling me and some doctor I didn't like.

IBS or Celiac
A little reluctant about this but I'm going back to my old WOE for 12 weeks so I can have the celiac tests. I've known for years that low carb is a great WOE but when I began eating LC a month ago, I set out to prove or disprove to myself one thing; will cutting carbs and sugars control and/or eliminate my IBS issues. I proved both. The funny thing is when I eat LC; I have NO issues with IBS. Odd considering the foods I eat while LCing are all foods I was told to avoid. My IBS flares up when I eat carb or sugar loaded meals and the flare up is almost instant. I will endure these next 12 weeks (gluten challenge) to have these tests. With celiacs being an inherited disease and my son having similar issues with his gastro system with the same foods as myself, I need to have these tests.

IBS or Celiac
Help requested...

I was diagnosed with IBS years ago and was told to stay away from lentils, leafy green veggies, carbonated drinks, etc. Funny thing is when I'm low carbing, leafy green veggies don't bother me. I also don't have IBS issues with low carbing. Immediately after and sometimes while eating sugar and carbs my symptoms begin; bloating, stomach cramps, extreme gas, tiredness, irritability, and more.

When my cousin was diagnosed with celiac disease a year ago, I started reading up on it to help her mom. Boy was I surprised to learn IBS and celiac have many of the same symptoms. Now, when diagnosed with IBS its recommended tests are ran to rule out celiac disease because many people were miss diagnosed with IBS when they truly had celiac disease.

I want the test done but don't want to go back to eating carbs. All the websites say don't change your eating habits before being tested because it could affect possibly having a positive test result. I have been on Atkins Induction phase for a month now.

I hate they way carbs and/or sugar make me feel. Don't know what to do... *sigh*
