Didn't lose and didn't gain and it's all good. Didn't have time yesterday to take measurements so will do that tonight. Very diligent about eating only whole foods (99.5% paleo: occasional cheese, black bean, or popcorn 'treat') but not really restricting calorie intake. Maintaining a 60% fat, over 20% protein, and under 20% carb ratio with an RDI of 2,000 calories (prefer under 2,000). Exercise has not increased yet but am remaining active until at least 9:30 p.m. nightly.
Very interested in adding essential oils to my daily routine and have started with frankincense in a facial spritz with I really enjoy. Will make some natural lip balms next with mint (wellnessmama.com recipe). Would like to add a diffuser soon.
Also focused on starting kombucha and kefir cultures to add to my daily intake which will act as natural probiotics. I am very fortunate to have a couple of girlfriends who are ready to start their own cultures, too, so we'll be able to help each other. :)
This past weekend I made grain free brownie bites (http://paleogrubs.com/raw-brownie-bites) for my dish to pass. One lover of full carb, full sugar, and full calorie didn't like this dish at all but I loved it. I did modify the recipe a bit by decreasing the cocoa by half and adding 1 cup almond flour so the recipe would make more and not have the bitter taste of the cocoa. Next time I'll consider using almond extract instead of vanilla simply for more flavor. I rolled a third of the brownie bites in slivered almonds, a third in dessicated coconut, and left the other third plain. Festive, tasty, simple, and fast!
All in all I'm feeling great, seeing changes in how my clothes fit, and am enjoying my new menu. The challenge comes when eating out or going to someone else's house for dinner but I make the best choices available which means sometimes going without, and that's okay.

losing 1.6 lb a week

A month of clean eating affects me more than I realize. In an effort to clean out the freezer and make my family a hot meal that we all could eat, I dug out the package of Michael Angelo's eggplant parmesan and made it for us all to eat. Good hot food, right? Well, after I ate my modest portion, my stomach began to gurgle and roll. I didn't feel so good. It only took about 30 minutes and my body started to reject the food that I had just ate. When I slow down long enough to listen, actually
listen
, to my body, it obviously did not want that processed dinner I had eaten. The queasy feeling stayed with me the rest of the night as a reminder that healthy whole food is what I am supposed to eat. Oh well, at least there's more room in the freezer now for good food! I wonder if these last three Atkins shakes will upset my stomach... I can't stand throwing food away so I'll drink one today and see how it goes.
Unrelated side note: at the end of my Whole 30 challenge I had lost 4" total. Not too shabby at all! As of now I will weigh in and measure on Sundays only (gotta break that scale addiction).
