ChristyLA's Journal, 03 May 2014

You know, when I weigh in, I usually put "followed reasonably well," because I never seem to do things perfectly each week. But I try my hardest; I'm just not perfect. I kinda feel disappointed in myself when I can't put "followed 100%". That's the perfectionist/high-expectation person I am. Oh well.

I'm doing great overall. Last week I worked out every weekday, which is my ultimate goal right now. I'm not concerned about the 1 lb gain, because I know it is just my weight fluctuating slightly. My measurements were pretty much the same as they were nearly two weeks ago - give or take a 1/2" due to inconsistencies with measuring (again, not perfect - even though I try to be!), or water retention - or lack thereof.

As long as I keep up my workouts every weekday, eat healthy the majority of the time, and keep my calories in check, I will be proud of myself :)

My only complaint about my performance last week was that I only went for a 15-min walk yesterday. It should have been a 25 min walk at least, but the 1.5 mile route I wanted to take was by a school and the time of day that I went was around the time the school gets out, and I dislike trying to walk through crowds of high school kids on the sidewalk, lol. I chose the 1 mile route, because, by the time I got my Mp3 player set up in my arm band (the first time I've used the arm band) and got out the door, I didn't feel like doing the 2-mile route, possibly because I was really busy with work. But, I went on a walk, no matter how short it was, so I did my workout for the day, so that "counts" in my book. Again, no one is perfect.

The other workouts I did last week were a weightlifting and strength training workout on Monday, which left me sore until Thursday, so I did cardio, abs, and yoga DVD workouts, and two walks, the other days. Last week, my abs weren't as sore as when I did the abs workout the week before. Progress!

I'm looking forward to doing a total body DVD workout on Monday, because I wanted to do that workout last week, but my whole body was too sore from Monday's workout and I like to let my muscles heal completely before working them again. I'll also be going for a lot of walks next week, because the weather is supposed to be beautiful :)

I hope you have a great weekend and next week! Stay healthy :)

You are way too hard on yourself! You have accomplished so much and should be proud. It's not easy doing anything 100% all the time. Give yourself a break!

I think clicking anything other than reasonably well would be weird... and 'perfect' would be lie since no one's perfect. You're doing fine.

I usually put reasonably well also. You have a great game plan and I think that is terrific. Keep up the great work!

Choosing "reasonably well" or "100%" is a toughie. If you stay within your caloric allotment, that would mean it's 100%, right? But if you're also incorporating low carb and high protein, go over on the carbs, but stay within your calories, what do you put? Unless I've been so super good and clean with eating, I put reasonably well. You're doing so well maintaining.

Just feeling like a perfectionist today, lol. But I can't seem to get a perfect week where I would feel I did it 100%. I think it's near impossible, lol. For me, 100% would be staying under my RDI every day and doing a workout every weekday. Some days I go slightly over my RDI and some slightly under. But that's just how my diet works out for the day. It all evens out in the long run. I try hard to stay under my RDI every day, but then when weigh-in day comes and I realize I can't put "100%", it's like a slight slap in the face.

You're definitely doing great! You are at your goal weight, you are leading a healthy lifestyle and exercising every day. It's normal for us to take it easier one day or the other. As long as the routine maintains that's the only thing that matters! The abs definitely seem to adapt quickly! Hope you had a great weekend and have a great week yourself! :)

Thanks, all. Euheide, you're right that I'm at my goal weight, which is why I'm not concerned with the weight fluctuations. I've been doing everything the same, so I know it's not fat gain. I just find that every day is different and I find it hard to be 100% consistent with my calories. Have a great week!

Thanks for listening! :) Our bodies always have different calorie requirements from day to day, according to the differences in the calories we burn also from day to day. That's perfectly normal! :) As long as the average calories (weekly, monthly, etc) keeps you in your goal weight that's how it's supposed to be. It's perfect ;) It's extremely difficult (and I would even risk saying, has a negligible effect) to eat precisely the exact same amount of calories every single day. Definitely do not care about that ;) You will always find yourself wanting to eat more in one day, less in the other and so on ;)

Keep it up Christy. It's hard to keep a routine, especially if it's fairly new. But I've become to think of a routine as routine...not boring but so consistent that it becomes second nature thus routine. I did the weightlifting as you suggested and will do another upper body workout right before lunch. Have a great day.

Thanks, Madanjen. It IS hard to keep a routine when it is new. I've worked out every weekday for at least a couple of weeks, but I've been slacking on my workouts this week :( I do better with watching what I eat. That's so great that you've been weightlifting! Keep up the great work!!
