Official Weekly Weigh-In

I'm up a little bit over the weekend, but I still lost a reasonable 1.6lb week-on-week, and I'm still just under the magic 25.0 BMI barrier!

It was a busy weekend, as we tried to pack in as much gardening and other chores in whilst the sun was shining, given how mixed the forecast was looking. I stuck reasonably well to my diet plan on Saturday, although once again had a bit too much wine. However, yesterday we went out for Sunday lunch, and in an effort to prove to my mum and husband that I'm not completely obsessive about the weight loss, I had the most enormous plate of sausage & mash and felt completely stuffed afterwards. I didn't have any tea (still too full!), but the scales did not look all that kindly on such an over-indulgence! Hey ho, I've been back on track today, so I'm sure it'll be headed back down again within a couple of days.

I haven't been all that good on the exercise front. I did fit in a brief 20 minute cardio workout on Saturday, but that was it - other than several hours of gardening, which did at least burn up a few calories!

I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence at the moment. It started off with trying to decide on my goals for Caged Liberty's motivating challenge, and got worse when I tried on a couple of 10-year-old dresses I've been hanging on to, just waiting for the moment they'd fit again. The thing is - I'm not sure where I should go from here. My goal was to get to 133lb, but with my husband and, to a lesser extent, my mum both making noises about me already having lost enough, it's getting harder to stay focused on that target. Also, those dresses - they just hung off me, looking like tents - which I found quite confusing. How can I be slimmer than I was 10 years ago, when I weighed a good 14lbs less?? I'm also feeling a bit self-conscious about my shrunken boobs, and not convinced I know what suits me any more. Anyway, we went shopping this afternoon, and a pretty new top with a frilly front has made me feel a bit better, but any advice would be appreciated!

What is the median weight for someone your height? What does you doctor say about your goal weight? How do YOU feel? Your relatives mean well but they are not used to seeing you at a lower weight so they think you're losing too much. ImLuuvd had this problem also. She went with her doctor's advice, lost 5 more lbs. under her goal weight and ended up getting off all her medications! You are doing a great job! Find out what is best for YOU and that's what you should do. You deserve that new wardrobe girl! :)

Congrats on another successful weigh in! Now I've got 3 (if I can remember correctly!) fatsecret buddies who are so close to their goal weight (that's aside from the ones who are already at their goal!). I think I said I had two buddies who were close once before so there's proof of my defective memory! It seems to be a common theme amongst you with trying to figure on a final goal and it all being a bit confusing. I am paying very close attention to what you all figure out in hopes of having a better understanding of how to work it out whenever I manage to get close to my own goal. As for the being slimmer when you weigh more than you did 10 years ago... were you much of an exerciser back then? I think that with all of your exercise that you have built up muscle mass and that would account for an increased weight with a smaller size. And how do you know when to stop? My best advice would be to check out your body in the mirror. Are there still significant pockets of fat anywhere or do you just need to "firm up"? If you like what you see, I don't see any reason to lose more weight. And if you lose a few more pounds and decide that you've lost too much, it is soooo easy to put back on ;) And if all else fails, talk to your doctor and get his/her opinion on what a healthy goal weight would be. And that way you will have your doctor's approval to back you up when anybody comments about whether you should/shouldn't lose more weight. Best of luck figuring it out!

Yet again great work Leanne! Now as to how you could be slimmer now than you were 10 years ago - toned muscle could have something to do with that as it takes up much less space than fat. With all the exercise that you've been doing, I know you've got some great toning! I can really see it in your arms in your new piccy - you look absolutely fantastic Leanne, so be very proud of yourself!! :o) As to where you go from here... ultimately you're the one that has got to be happy! We can all have idealisms of wanting to be a particular weight, or a particular size - I know my own focus is to be happy with the way I look, which for me is the most important thing of all. You're 5' 3" aren't you? WW gives 8st 1lb - 10st 1lb as the ideal weight range... but again these are just idealisms like other weight charts. I know I've had people be quite surprised when I've told them that I'm now 9st 13lb... then they say, but you don't look that heavy!! I guess exercise and being toned have a lot to answer for in shaping the way we look -- we've put the effort in and been rewarded with results. :o) I guess you could go and have a chat with your doctor - then at least if they think you're ok to lose a little more (if you really want to), you will have backing of a medical professional. Personally I think you look fantastic though and honestly, if you didn't loose another ounce it wouldn't matter. As we know, exercise is fantastic for toning, so if there are areas that you still want to tone, then you can work on those bits with targeted exercise. I know my bug-bear is my stomach and waist... so I'll keep working on that one! I'm so proud of you for coming so far and being such a fantastic buddy. You have been and continue to be such an inspiration to everyone here... so keep smiling and be happy, as you really do look great! ;o)

Thanks for your advice (and compliments)! Looking at my BMI range, a weight of 129lb would put me bang in the middle of the range for my height (5'3.5"), although I do have a large frame, which is why I was shooting for a BMI of 23.2 instead. I rarely go to the doctors, and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with "wasting" one of their precious appointment slots with a weigh-in... although perhaps I could see a nurse for this. Or I could get an assessment at the gym. I have been meaning to book in for a Bupa Well Woman check-up, but they're pretty expensive, so I'd been wanting to get to my goal weight first to ensure they didn't just tell me to lose weight, LOL. However, perhaps now is the time to take the plunge and book one in. Like you say - at least then I'd get an objective, medically-based opinion on the matter!

All good advice there. You prob. are more toned and muscular now than you were before! That is great news. Stop where you feel good. No sense in worrying about a certain # on the scale if you like how you look. Enjoy it!
