Good morning!

Phew. It was a rough night. It's all in the past, though, and I feel great now.

Same thing as last time happened. My back just isn't built for hospital beds. My back was aching all night, keeping me from resting.

It's so ironic that I have my stomach cut open and I can't sleep because my back is bugging me!

The actual cut doesn't hurt whatsoever. On the famous 1 to 10 scale of pain I am 1 or 2. Nothing really.

The nurses were busy last night, though. Quite a bit of fluid and blood had collected around the cuts, and it was leaking, making a mess. Obviously, they had to keep an eye on it, ensuring that everything was OK.

I also had some severe cold sweat moment, but everything point to this being me reacting to the anesthetics. It was rough to go through but it seems like it's over.

I threw up everything I ate yesterday, due to me feeling sick, so this morning, I was HUNGRY. They had me fasting this morning until the surgeon had taken a look at me, just in case they needed to do further surgery.

Fortunately, this wasn't necessary. It's all fine looking and just as it's supposed to be. Wanna see?

I say it looks pretty damn nice! Of course it's still all puffy and swollen, but that'll go away.

I'm wearing two CRAZY TIGHT elastic belts to keep pressure on the wounds. They're tedious, but necessary.

Anyways, the doctors cleared me, no further surgery needed, but I'm staying at the hospital one more day for observation. That's comforting. I don't want to go home until it's safe to go home.

I was also allowed to have breakfast. I was HUNGRY, and there was no chance I'd go with the Intermittent Fasting approach today. I threw up my food yesterday, so essentially I hadn't eaten in around 36 hours. I needed food.

Breakfast was rye bread with cheese, a small yoghurt, coffee and juice.

...

So now I am out of bed standing up, and walking around a bit. I'm a lot more comfortable standing than being in that cursed bed. It hurts my back.

I also have a recliner here, and I might go for that one later, but for now I just wanna be on my feet since I can. I have zero pains anywhere right now, and have taken zero painkillers since last night, about 12 hours ago.

It's a great help that the cuts don't hurt at all. When they cut, they cut over the nerve endings, so it's literally impossible to feel pain.

The only pain people feel from this kind of surgery is when they have their stomach muscles tightened too. My muscles are in GREAT shape - the surgeons were actually stunned! - and needed no fixing, fortunately.

...

I did do a weigh in, just for statistics. It's useless. It gives the strangest readings.

I went from 79ish to 84ish kilos since yesterday. I'm sure this is true. I find it hard to believe, though, that I went from a body fat percentage of 10 to 23. :-D

Even if the excess weight was pure fat, this STILL wouldn't be possible. I'm sure there's a lot of strange things going on in my body right now during recovery. It's fine. They're interesting numbers to follow. I'll keep recording them every day.

So, everything is really seemingly okay here. I'm gonna go walk the hallways a little, just move around. I wonder if I can make my 10,000 steps today? (KIDDING! Dont Worry!)

Today, im thankful for:
- Surgery done and over with.
- Today, I'm officially done with the weight loss journey, and stepping into the "get fitter and stronger" journey.
- Wife. She's been worried. I'm glad to tell her I'm okay.
- Everyone on Fatsecret! Thank you so much for all the comments. I appreciate each and every one of you!
- Breakfast! BOY, was I hungry!

Have a great day! Life is good!

So relieved to read your surgery went well and you're pain free. Interesting they can do that without cutting nerves; I had a torn meniscus removed from my knee nearly 5 years ago and still get pain there but I am sure that's likely because I was up walking around on it that eve and never did PT. Thanks for the update and I know you're happy to feel better as well as have your body truly reflect the rewards of your very hard work and dedication.

It's weird. There really isn't any pain, except maybe a small pinch when I sit down or get up. I've been on my feet for hours, with surgeon's permission, and it's all good. The fluid build up is going down from me walking around. I have reasonable energy. I feel like I do after a night with not enough sleep, which is what I had.

Good deal! Glad everything went well and that you are recovering nicely. I'm sure it will be great to get home for the weekend. I'm guessing the weird weight gain was from fluid buildup from surgery and IVs? The body fat % does, however, have to be really off. P.S. I had surgery same day as you - had to have a knee repaired, but it was only arthroscopic surgery.

You look fabulous Keld. And the surgery looks good, nicely done. Hope you get some rest when you do finally settle in that recliner. Thanks for checking in, lovely to know you are doing so well.

Hey jwill, long time no see. Here's to a speedy recovery for you too!

Sarahsmum, I'm amazed how well the results are, just as I was last time. I know it'll never be "perfect", I will probably never be able to train myself to a six pack, but hey - at least I got rid of the keg, right? I have good amounts of energy. The main battle here is against boredom. I found an awesome playlist on Spotify, so I have brilliant bluesy rock music playing in my room. Several people have asked what I'm listening to, because it sounds great. :-)

Yes boredom is the worst. Can you play any kind of word games or are you to fidgety for that? And I guess movie watching would be the same? But glad you have some good music to listen to as music is your 'thing'. And 6 packs are over-rated. You look fabulous and once that swelling goes down, wow, awesome :)

PS: love the bald, been meaning to tell you that forever :)

A vertical cut. Never saw that, but then never saw a surgical scar for this type of surgery. You look great.

That is awesome, Keld!!! And I have to say I agree, the result already looks fabulous... in a few months, it will be utterly amazing! I'm not surprised the fat meter and scale are going bonkers on you. The saline they pump into you, combined with the skin they removed is probably making the thing spin. Water retention will probably be up for a few weeks while you recover. But honestly, I'm so glad to hear you are feeling great, and it already looks fantastic! Best wishes, good sir!
