Hi...I join now
Hello, and welcome aboard.

My first thought would be if a goal weight of 48 kilos is at all realistic. How tall are you, if I may ask?

Introduction
Hello, Farmer.

First of all, welcome aboard. You are definitely in the right place to lose the excess weight. I have done it, and I know you can do it too.

One thing is important, though. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT aim for a 1000 calorie intake daily. Your body will think you are starving and it will shut down all attempts to lose weight. I promise you this. I have been there. Instead, go with the calculations that Fatsecret gives you, make shave off another 500 calories, but leave it at that.

It gives you room for a a little fun now and then, and it just makes the whole weight loss journey much more bearable - and you won't stall.

Please trust me on this. Smile

Feel free to add me as a buddy if you like. Best of luck on your journey!

Keld.

Purchase equipment or gym?
I see one main difference - other than of course the whole "going to the gym or working out at home" thing:

At the gym you can do strength training, whereas your eliptical only will give you cardio workouts.

If you ask me, I'd say that the strength training is WAY more important long term.

Cardio exercise makes you burn calories here and now, but strength training will make you stronger, up your metabolic rate, tone your body and just make you feel amazing.

I'd go for the gym if I were you.

Most likely, you'll also find elipticals at the gym, so you can get the best of both worlds.

Rdi
It is indeed "Recommended Daily Intake". When people here on FatSecret refer to RDI, it is the calorie intake number that Fatsecret hands you when you look in your food diary.

Also, welcome aboard!

Older Yet Feeling I can finally lose the weight no longer how long it takes!
Welcome aboard!

It's my experience that age really doesn't matter all that much when it comes to weight loss.

From my experience teaching weight loss classes, I have had several 80+ ladies who successfully lost weight using systems like FatSecret. Keep it up!
