HCB's Journal, 17 August 2012

Two weeks ago I bought two pair of Fall pants on sale that were a smaller size than I wore - I could get them on but barely button them and definitely not zip them.

So THIS morning, I could button AND zip them! They are still too tight to wear but I was excited. My goal is to wear them about six weeks from now...so there is hope!

And, today I found a little jacket I cannot quite button - but will work well as I approach the goal weight. And, I also found a pair of black dress pants for 50% off on sale in my goal size! I feel confident I will hit my goal size and may even be able to go beyond it.

Now, some people may think I am a crazy-a$$ to do it - but it totally motivates me to work hard so I can wear the smaller clothes staring at me from the closet - the sizes I believe I easily could be for my height and age.

And, I am so totally ready and able to do a closet purge! I have many many items that are falling off of me now that must go! I am not saving any "fat" clothes "just in case" I need them! Some of them are fairly new so I will give to friends, donate or sell on consignment.

This will be a great change because in the past I have kept clothes saying, "Oh, but these were so cute or so expensive I will save them." It is only a crutch that can allow me to backslide to a bigger backside!

Today I am grateful for:

- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and all its splendor
- My physical health

Oh, I sure understand the motivation those smaller sizes in the closet are! I finally fit into my Ralph Lauren pants in my smallest adult size ever (from several years ago) yesterday & I nearly cried tears of joy. I need to shop some good sales soon! Great idea,HCB! Say hi to Bodhi & Ravi from me and Beau (who thinks he's a Bengal.)

Congrats on squeezing on those pants! I don't think you're crazy for buying "motivation" clothes... I've done the same. Just don't do like me and forget about them until you've slid past that weight and wind up finding out they are now too big! Boy, someone at the thrift store was lucky to be getting some BRAND NEW pants! LOL.

Not crazy at all - I do the same...and defintely do not hang on to any fat clothes - don't give yourself any allowances to go back...you're never going to need them again!!!

Great job HCB. Doesn't it feel great to fit into those smaller size clothes?? You will be fitting in them nicely before too long. :)

I got a great pair of jeans that were mislabeled for $6.50. I think they are about 2 sizes smaller than my current size....I have no doubt I will fit into them. And like you I consider it motivation to have them there to "shrink into". :)

That sounds fantastic HCB! I got rid of all my 16's a little while ago and I will have to do the same with my 14's. For like 3 years, I kept a pair of supertight size 12's in my closet that I couldn't squeeze into, these jeans that I really liked. I finally got into them! And now they are finally getting loose! I guess I could go out like you and buy some more "motivation" clothes. I will tell you this - it will feel unbelievable to get rid of my 14's, because I spent years barely believing it was possible to fit into them, let alone need to pitch them out.

I KNOW - I totally agree with you KMD! And now you bought some size 10's !!! Woot!

What fun! Congratulations! I love reading your updates and seeing each little milestone; it reminds me that whatever the next goal is, there are always plenty of little celebrations to be had along the way. Happy for you!!!

You are dong absolutley AMAZING!! What a fabulous feeling to fit into the smaller size! For me I personally find it a much bigger reward to do that then the numbers on the scale. Funny you should mention the goal clothes! I did that for the longest time with a pair of jeans that I jus loved. I actually hung them up on my bedroom wall as a constant visual reminder! Well those jeans are too big but I've have kept them, not for the just in case but as a continued reminder of how far I have come and where I do not want to go back to. Once again congratulations on the great job!!!

I am certain that both your closet purge and your purchase of the smaller size are courageous risks and smart moves on your part. You seem super motivated to "do this thing." There is something quite "liberating" about getting rid of those big clothes. For me they are a reminder of what I used to be at a time when I did not feel good wearing those clothes. To slide easily into something feels so good! Keep going Girl! You are doing great!

Your motivation is contagious. I kept one pair of my largest jeans and put them on every now and then when I feel like I haven't lost any weight. It is a good reminder of how far I have come.

...and I'm not the least bit surprised...what a wonderful, rewarding feeling!

Congrats. I do know that feels good. Keep it up, you'll be comfy in them, in no time.
