Hiya, my name is Tara and I'm 24 years old. I live in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and study at Pennsylvania State University for my Bachelors in Information Science and Technology.

I love my life at this point. I am surrounded by great people, have an amazing boyfriend who supports me in my every endeavor, my education and work keep me interested everyday and constantly motivated, and my self esteem has sky rocketed since I have lost almost 30 pounds with the help of Fatsecret.

I believe hard work always pays off, and although getting in shape and losing weight is not easy and sometimes can be extremely frustrating, in the end, the happiness and confidence you gain is absolutely priceless and worth every agonizing hour spent at the gym.

Feel free to message me with any questions or send me a buddy request! :)

still frustrated!
Although I am not a "diet" type of person and believe eating healthy and calorie counting is the way to go, I will say that no matter what weight loss plan you're on, there should always be some basic principles that should be followed.

Are you consuming at least 1200 calories a day? If you're consuming less than this amount, your body will go into an almost starvation mode where it will try to conserve as much fat as possible for energy stores. From looking at your food diary, some days you eat as little as only 1000 calories a day! You should be trying to consume close to your RDI number. Are you recording everything? (even exercise). If you're doing the same exercise routine every day, try switching it up since your body will become accustomed to the amount of effort used to perform that certain exercise, which in turn will burn less calories.

Lastly, don't beat yourself up for eating certain "bad" foods every once in awhile. Life is meant to be enjoyed and speaking from experience, berating yourself for slipping up every now and then is a quick way to regress back into old behaviors.

Good luck!

Best for Weight Loss - Pure Cardio or a Mix?
Great advice everyone, didn't expect the topic to be this much of a debate though lmao.

I think I'm going to stick with mostly cardio (like CMR, I also do mostly interval training on the treadmill and bike), with a little resistance thrown in there so I won't lose the lean muscle mass. When I lose a few more pounds I'll start focusing more on the weight training / calisthenics to firm and tone.

Best for Weight Loss - Pure Cardio or a Mix?
I just recently kick-started my diet and workout routine again after gaining 10 pounds over the winter, so my goal now is to drop the 10 pounds, then focus on toning my body and letting the last 5 pounds come off by themselves.

I wanted to ask a general opinion on what the best type of workouts there are for someone who wants to just strictly burn calories and lose weight. It might sound like a silly question, but I've been having a hard time lately losing the weight with my current workout routine and I don't want to build muscle over the fat I already have. What has worked the best for you guys? Should I focus on pure cardio, or will some weight training thrown in there help my metabolism?

Thanks in advance Smile

Eating out where to go what to have?
Also, just be careful with some restaurant's labeling of their nutrition. Some can be very deceiving and will list their foods as under 500 calories, low cal, etc. but in fine print will say the serving size is 1/3 of the meal lol.
