I am the optimistic Pollyanna type, except when I am depressed because I ate too much sugar. I have battled my weight issues for decades and am convinced I will win the war sometime. I will never give up. I hope to get to 150 some day, but would be thrilled at 165. Basically, I am healthy. Non smoker, non drinker, no diabetes, no high blood pressure; so I've got that going for me. Have you heard the phrase, "If you could just lose some weight..."

I am a registered nurse, employed, married; with 3 grown and married children and 6 granchildren. My hobbies include sewing/quilting; cooking (no surprise here) and family activities. My exercise includes swimming and walking the dogs (2 little guys).

I am not too tech savy but, again, I never give up trying/learning. If you write me, I will answer.

How do you say "No"?
Hi. That is a tough one, for sure! You did the best thing given the no-warning moment. Again, tough situation. The only thing I can think of might be to later, after the cake, mention to her something like, "You are such a good friend and I am flattered you obviously spent your time and money to make us a treat...restrictions are tough; and I've added another to my group: I'm not eating any processed sugars." You could offer the info that it has helped you; maybe it will work for her too, and you can both have fun finding something both of you can enjoy...like a challenge. By the way, you have such a nice smile, teeth and all, that ought to win her over. GOOD LUCK! And have a good Memorial weekend.
