I have tried Atkins before and lost weight. I was on it faithfully for about 2 years and got to the point I wore a size 8 to size 10 pant. I had changes in my life both good and bad and stopped eating properly. I always feel better when I am eating the Atkins way but for some reason, once I go off my diet, it is almost impossible for me to get back started. Time passed and I have gained pretty much all of my weight back and now wear a size 14 pant. I honestly don't know how much I weigh. Never have really cared that much about the pounds number and care more about the size. I am built a bit odd so the pounds are always pretty big even when the size is not. Last year, I went on Atkins after a heart scare and was truely dedicated to it for 2 months. I went back to the Dr and although everyone thought I had lost weight (including me) I had not lost a single pound. In disgust, I went back to eating whatever I wanted and here I am again.....

This time I hope to find some help. If there was an Atkins center where I could go to meetings - I would. However, as you likely know, there is no such thing so I am stuck trying to reach out to people in Cyber Space. I travel at least 50% of the time so have no real-life friends to diet with. The people I work with are either not overweight or not willing to try Atkins. If anyone wants to buddy up - let me know. I am dedicated to getting this right and staying with it this time. My health is worth it.

Oh and my picture is actually me when I was less fluffy. I hope to get back to looking similar. My face is the first place to gain weight and that is not good for your looks :)

Breakfast
I guess for me, if someone 'reputable' tells me to do it and it makes sense to me, I am going to try it. that is why I have the question.... Liv, for Atkins, did you get any sense of what the breakfast needs to be? That is, would the cream suffice?

Breakfast
I do try to do what is best for me and I try to be dedicated to my WOE. It is Atkins but I am far enough along that i don't have to be overly strict as I would be on induction. I am also of the mind that modifications can be good as long as they are working. Therefore, I try to incorporate some Primal stuff in my diet. Reading about the Leptin stuff and the information I saw from Dr Oz the other day, I do believe that food in the AM is a good thing. A good habit to get into. However, different plans require different things. i am just wondering if I am a total fail if i do not get breakfast per se in the morning. If my coffee has heavy cream in it, does that count? I don't think black coffee would because it has no nutrients but I am not sure if the cream counts. Also, if i don't have eggs or steak or something in the AM and have cream cheese, does that count as breakfast? I don't want to cause myself a stall or slow weight loss over something like this. I am really just wondering how much is enough?

Breakfast
You always hear that you should eat breakfast in the morning. It starts your metabolism burning and keeps your body feeling that it is going to be fed all day. Some diets even say you should eat breakfast within 30 mins of waking.

My question is - what is breakfast? In practice, it seems breakfast can be pretty much anything. Protein, carb, fruit, yogurt, lots of things fit as breakfast. Does cream? Would drinking coffee with heavy cream fit as breakfast? Does it depend on the amount of cream? If a smoothie works for breakfast, what about it works? Is it really calories that count or type of food?

Thanks for your input.

will losing weight get rid of my fat face?
It comes off yes but it depends on your age and other factors as to whether the double chin remains a bit. I have always had a double chin and while I do lose weight in my face and neck, the skin stays there ready to re-inflate when I inevitably go back up the scale. This time, it is futile.... Will not go back up. I'd have it cut off but the time I seriously discussed it with a surgeon I found that the recovery time was longer than I really wanted to deal with. that was a few years ago.... may think about it again in a few months
