Start Weight
270.0 lb
Lost so far: 45.5 lb

Current Weight
224.5 lb
Performance: losing 0.3 lb a week

Goal Weight
225.0 lb
Still to go: 0.5 lb
My starting weight was clocked in about 2 weeks prior to my start date at the doctor's office. That was a shock to be sure. "270, wow, you kiddin?" was my initial reaction. But come to think of it, my clothes were getting tighter (and not in a John Travolta Stayin' Alive kind of way).

So I clicked on the link below and found out that instead of big and cuddly I found out I'm pretty much a heavy hitter... :(

Body Mass Index: 33.5 kg/m2
Waist-to-Height ratio: 0.57
Percent Body Fat: 24.4%
Lean Body Mass: 196.5 lb

You are overweight by 30.2 kilograms (66.4 pounds)
Minimum caloric requirements: 2427 Calories per day
Limit your food intake to 2062 calories per day.
to lose 2.7 pounds per month.
Your diet should contain at least 96 grams of protein per day.

Then I found this corner of the web and was interested. But then again, maybe registering at this site is a really a means to an end to get a new smart phone so I can log all of my entries from the table after a nice meal!

How did I get this heavy? I really enjoy all the right foods, I just need to learn when to put down the fork...

But maybe if I loose a few pounds, it might allow my bike to go faster, lower the center of gravity and turn a bit more nimbly. That would be a welcome change to be sure!

Anyway, I was born in Detroit, moved to Texas, lived there through the 80's and 90's and moved back to the motor city at the turn of the century. Missing my bride who has gone before me much too young in the prime of her life, but I still have our two puppies. They keep me going.

Cilantro.... love it or hate it??
I can't imagine pico d' gallo, salsa or queso dip without cilantro. I used to hate the stuff when I was younger but over the years I've grown to really like what it does for some foods.

About coriander, I thought it was the seed of the cilantro plant which I think makes it a spice, where the cilantro leaf is considered an herb.

Franken Foods

I am going to stick to not eating these things and see if the trend continues. Has anyone else had the same experience with these "Franken Foods" as I have had? I am curious to see what others have to say about this.

Congrats on the -2#!

+1 on the non-processed foods. I think I've used the bar code scanner on the android app twice since I've started here. I try and put things in my grocery cart that only the farmer or the butcher touched. I seem to feel better when I do this and eat this way.

I think I saw in an article once that really going at it sex burns around 5 calories a minute. It is something burned so I agree it should be listed. But it is too funny to think about.

Yet another buddy request
I've joined a few groups, posted a few things, read a lot of journals, lost a few pounds and the only thing I haven't done yet is ask for a few buddies.

Even though I'm a realist by nature, I try and keep a positive attitude about life.

What I can do for you: When I sense that one of my buds needs a bit of support, I will offer it when I am able. If you are able to respond in kind when you sense that I need it - feel free.

Spices for cooking fish and chicken?
Thyme. It does seafood and chicken good IMHO.
