I am a Canadian living and working in Taiwan. I have been around the world teaching Children English as a second language. I live this gig because it gives me time to travel and I can set a large portion of my schedule throughout the day for the things I want to do (since I work evenings).
I have lived my life with chronic Asthma. I used to have to carry around a puffer everywhere I went and take a puff before and after exercise. This January I decided I was done with all of that nonsense. I decided it was time to be the healthiest fittest me.
I have been going to the gym since January 3rd. I rotate 2-3 heavy weeks of intense exercise 5-6 days a week at an effort that leaves me wobbling as I walk back to the change room with a week of lighter, more chilled out recovery week, where I scale back the weights and incorporate hill walking and exercise around 60% of my maximum heart rate. Keeping my body in the "fat burning zone"
More recently I have moved to a low carb-ish diet. On heavy weeks of exercise I will be eating a max of 50g of Carbs while on my lighter weeks, shooting for 15-25 net carbs. I have also been incorporating intermittent fasting into my mornings.I don't have my first real "meal" until about 12pm- 1pm. I wake up with a coffee filled with coconut oil (about 240 calories of full fat. I then go to the gym and blast the heck out of that fat)
Following this plan, in a month and a half I have lost 24 pounds. I am always full. I eat amazing and tasty foods and I am feeling the greatest I have ever felt in my life. The key I have found is eating whole foods. Foods the way they were meant to be, with all of their fat, calories and protein intact. Simple straight up whole foods, the ones our ancestors ate while they were out, running around, being chased by predators and fending for their lives in the search of filling that hunger pit.
