TGIF! My goal as I go into another weekend opportunity to use my mindful eating and living skills, is to truly live and enjoy the weekend, striving for a balance between "restricting & permitting"… the true definition of eating mindfully. Pausing & deciding if I am hungry before I eat; deciding what to eat based on what I want, what I need & what I have; and then enjoying/celebrating each meal with intention and attention. It's a balancing act, but I'm up to the challenge with tool box in hand, this weekend with a big sign on it to relax, enjoy & celebrate!

I have a nice start to the weekend with lunch with my indoor tennis girlfriends. We've played tennis together for over 10 years, but in the summer since I play outdoors, I don't see them regularly. One of the girls, who hasn't played now in several years because of health reasons, had double knee replacement surgery and I haven't seen her in months, so this will be a true celebration.

Otherwise, it's a low-key weekend and DH & I spoke about how to spend it last night. In our renewed effort to carve time each weekend for us, I initiated the conversation of planning it. Even though he's the consummate non-planner, he's married to the ultimate planner! But, he's realizing that no plans can mean we're each making our own in our heads and end up with little or no time together. With his busy work & travel schedule, we have little time together during the week, so if we don't carve out weekend time, we easily go our separate ways. We're working to better stay connected.

DH & I will play tennis together tomo morning, then later in the afternoon, we're going to look at a condo with his Mom. She's eager to move, but this may not be ideal as it sounds too big & expensive for her at this stage in her life. After, we'll either take her to dinner or go out ourselves. Sunday night will be family dinner with the boys. So, its a fun, easy to enjoy weekend ahead… one day at a time!

But, before I head to spin class and the enjoyment of today, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And I'll pray, breathe, log, journal, express and celebrate through this one day, and each one meal, moment, thought, bite & emotion. I'm so, so grateful for each of awesome you, my family & IRL friends, a wonderful and fun-filled weekend to celebrate ahead, a new determination to balance permitting with restricting, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

I love reading about your plan for the weekend. It motivates me to aim for the same balance in life. Have a lovely weekend.

Balance, yes it's all about balance, and making sure there is fun in there too. Sounds like you have a plan. It's kinda hard to always be aware of what you are doing but it's either that or buy a size 20 mumu and eat your way into it :) Enjoy your time with DH. Hope the condo search goes well for MIL. I know you two will guide her and curb the enthusiasm if needed. You may indeed end up having dinner all 3 of you just to talk over the decision. Whatever you do, enjoy the heck out of it. Hugs and TGIF :)
