Celebrating each day… celebrating life… I love the reminder from Geneen Roth, and our Bella! Yesterday's wake and then a sad, but moving, movie last night reinforced how important it is to live each day to the fullest. Enjoy who we are and what we have. As I'd mentioned yesterday, the wake was for an acquaintance, a very close friend of a very close friend of ours. We'd see her and her family occasionally at social functions. I hadn't seen her kids in years. She has a son the same age as my youngest and a daughter a year younger. They'd grown so since I last saw them… so grown up & trying to hold it together. Her DH had grayed and aged, understandably. She was 57 and passed after a long battle with breast cancer. She was an active community volunteer and they a really lovely family. As sad as it was, it was a true celebration of her life.
Then last night as DH was out at a business dinner after the wake, I watched a movie called One True Thing with Meryl Streep as a mother dying from cancer, and the impact on her family. Again, another reminder that life can be shorter than we'd like, so really live it… love it…. enjoy it! More good thought-provoking moments reinforcing why it's so important to live mindfully & fully.
I've been to my workout & have another golf lesson later this afternoon, weather permitting. We have hard rain in the northeast this morning, but it may clear out in time for the lesson to go on. I'm liking the golf… more than it's liking me! DH and both boys are taking some lessons too & getting more into it, so I don't want to be left behind. Luckily, it's a sport that you can do with others even when they are leaps & bounds better.
So before I get farther into my day, I'll pray --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And for this one day and through each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal, express & truly live my way! I'm so very grateful for each of loving you, my family & IRL friends, another day to truly celebrate with the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox
