soccermom23boys's Journal, 06 September 2013

Even though I have kept my daily intake to under 1200 calories, I cannot say that I have followed my diet 100%, only "Reasonably Well". I need to eat whole proteins. Also, I have not had any "Meal Days" (eating 500-600 calorie lunches on Days 3, 5 & 7) the past two weeks. I have been trying to limit myself to fit into a slinky dress for a wedding tomorrow. I've only been able to lose a few pounds in that time, but I have added exercise (and hopefully muscle mass). I know that muscle weighs more than fat, so I need to take that into consideration, as well. I also ran out of my Alkalete to help burn fat (and keep my monthly migraine away next week) 1-1/2 weeks ago and only restarted taking it Wednesday evening. Next week I know will be better when I have "all my ducks in a row"! :)
Tomorrow's wedding has me a little nervous, because I have not eaten dinner past 6:00 PM with my protein shake. The wedding only starts at 5:30, so who knows when we'll eat dinner (sharing filet mignon & salmon with my husband). Maybe I'll drink my shake at 3:30 PM, instead of 6. I will be indulging in a drink, or 2 (or 3), as well.
I'll let you know how it goes.
:) Deb

Hope you have a fabulous time. A little indulgence once in a while doesn't hurt. So just enjoy. The meal options sound good to me too :)

I know how difficult it is to have an event that you know will cause you to eat 'improperly'. It is a bit of an emotional battle because on one hand you are exceited about the event and on one hand you dread the issues with food. All I know is that the reason we try to lose the weight is for a better life and these events are 'life'. So give yourself permission to mess up but make your plan (as you have) and go have a great time. If you mess up the WOE and even if you end up gaining weight... you still won. You know how to get back on track and you will. It is all just part of that life we are working so hard to enjoy,

Hi. I was wondering... have you checked your cholesterol levels? Maybe you have them a little high and that gives you migraines. I hope you get to the point where you don't need to take anything to control those migraines.

Best of luck at the wedding. My own experience is that, although diet is obviously important, exercise has been the key for me. I used to train four or five times a week and when I moved to the US from the UK about 11 years ago I stopped. Now that I am back to my old routine I am experiencing fairly consistent weight loss. When I stop exercising I stop losing weight. I try and aim for at least 30 minutes a day of some sort of activity that will get the pulse rate up, don't always achieve it but over time it has worked well for me. So dance the night away at the wedding, you can get enjoyment and exercise at the same time!! ;-)

Everyone needs a break from dieting once in a while. So go have fun at the wedding and don't worry! Just get right back on your diet the next day.

Migraines are caused by being dehydrated and I am sure you are acidic at the cellular level. Go to kangendemo.com and see why you are acidic and dehydrated. My son had migraines most of his life. He no longer has them.

Thank you all for the wonderful support! I know the wedding will be fine. I had a wedding 2 weeks ago; enjoyed the meal & even a little wedding cake, but no snacks. As far as my migraines...definitely hormonal - a few days before & after my monthly visitor. Here's to hoping for 2 months in row without one!! :) What are you all doing this weekend?

Enjoy yourself at the wedding. If you deprive yourself of any treats or fun at the wedding, you may indulge later. I find when I do that it is even worse but if I allow myself a break then I don't go crazy later. I used to get the monthly headaches & my doctor explained that it was because of water retention. Apparently even the brain cells retain water & that is what causes the migraines. I rarely get migraines any more but at 65, I don't need to worry about hormones. I am off to a baby shower today with all the tempting treats there. Will try to limit myself with those. My 5 grandchildren will be there. Maybe I will try to hold one of the twins (11 mo) so I cannot eat as much. Hoping they have lots of veggies there.
