Eringiffin's Journal, 11 December 2012

My desk at work is right next to the community feed trough. Today there is this enormous platter of cookies. I am glad I am not facing it but people keep coming by and talking about them. It's a little distracting. I have no intention of having any though. I still haven't made it back to what I weighed before I got sick, so I have to keep vigilant.

Today I am thankful for continued weight loss. I am thankful for my husband who not only walked and fed the dog this morning, he remembered to take the trash to the curb for pickup day, as well. I am in love!

ah the little things that mean so much. Good man. I think it's tough being at home but I can at least control what is in the house. I wish you strength to resist office treats.

This time of year in an office is brutal for dieters. I admire your strength and dedication to your goal!

We have a feeding frenzy coming next week at work called treats day and I hope I'm as strong as you. I'm bringing treats for myself and hopefully that keeps me sane.

Headphones?

hmm, headphones. I have a pair, but they are at home. I think I would get paranoid if I couldn't hear people walking up behind me, though, hehe.

Jess, it's actually funny how long people can hold a conversation about a plate of cookies. Everything from strategizing which ones they are going to eat to justifying why it's ok for them to eat the cookies, wondering who brought in the cookies, etc. etc.

Mirror? (To decrease paranoia of folks walking up behind you while wearing your cookie conversation crumbling headphones? ((Did my time in the cube corral - developed a long list of defenses)) OR turn up your music without the headphones & drown them out. Hopefully they don't report to you or you've got a time management issue :-) Hohoho.

I wish you continued success, and applaud you for having the strength to not give in to temptation, when it's staring you in the face. Keep up the good work; that's the way to win in this battle of the bulge.

Way to go on staying away from the cookies..that in its self is a good way to treat your self...Just think when you get back to where you were you can pat your self on the back...and smile ...:O)

I'm in that very same situation. I have LOADS of candy right outside my office, along with the machine that makes coffee and hot chocolates. I can literally smell the calories. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? Focus on the pride of NOT having it. The strength in resisting is massive, and the joy after a day gone with no cookies and candy is worth so much more than 15 seconds in the company of a (probably not really that good) cookie.

My desk is where all the goodies tend to land too. It is so hard to resist but it is worth it! Good luck to you

Kingkeld, you are so right! One side of my brain says, "Cookies are awesome, we should be eating these all the time!" Then I have to remind that part of my brain how not-awesome it is to not be able to wear the styles of clothes I like or to not participate in the reindeer games because I am out of shape. I can pacify the cookie monster by conceding that once in a while I can still have a cookie, just not the whole plate.
