Rdrunr557's Journal, 21 March 2014

I'm about to give up. I weigh more now than I did last year at this time. I start out great but only last a week. I don't understand why. I usually lose 5 the first week.
Feel good and then I don't know what happens. I become constipated, start gaining the weight back and then give up.

You are the only person who can choose not to give up. It also sounds like you aren't getting enough fiber and water. You have to make the decision, no one else can choose to do it for you. You know you need to for your gealth, but you are the one who has to. Good luck.

Instead of giving up, which will definitely lead to weight gain, why not just commit to eating healthier. IMO you are restricting yourself too much, too few calories, too much sodium. Maybe just focus on small lifestyle changes and add a new goal each week.

You can't give up when you have not (honestly) even started! Every time you start the journey of losing weight it is different. I started working out 4-5 days a week 9 months ago and am now seeing my weight go down you have to be the one to decide that you deserve to be healthy, no one can do it for you. Keep going you can do this!

Rdrunr557, I truly believe success comes with a plan. Sit down and come up with a long term plan that you can live with. Research to determine the best wt. loss plan for you and your lifestyle. Plan out the foods you can have on that plan and exercise you are able to do. Write everything down in a journal so you can track your progress. Set short term goals throughout the long term plan and celebrate when you reach them. Use this web site for encouragement, as there are so many wonderful supportive people ready with encouragement.

Don't give up. Hoffner is right. You have to come up with a solid plan you can live with. At my age (53), losing weight is hard. I have everything against me......hormones, arthritis, metabolism and the list goes on and on. The first step is getting real with yourself. Are you 100% committed to doing this? If the answer is not a resounding YES, then you have some soul searching to do. Why do you feel you are not worth the sacrifice? The older I get the more I realize that time is slipping away, slowly, slowly, slowly. Inside I feel like I did 30 years ago, but the outside is just an aging shell of what it used to be. It's up to me make every moment count, whether it's my marriage, my job or my health. No one is going to do it for me. I have to stand in front of the mirror, naked and depressed and face the truth of what time and my poor choices have done......but the good news is that you are the driver. You are the one with the steering wheel in you hands. You control it all. You need to take a long hard look at why you are willing to give up so easily. I am telling you right now, you are worth it....you matter...and you owe it to yourself to try again and again and again, as many times as it takes to reach your goal and show everyone that you got this. Don't give up EVER!!!!!

I SO know how you are feeling. I now weigh more than I did when I started my weight loss journey two years ago. But I keep trying. What is the alternative? Not trying? Getting FATTER?? It's frustrating. I'm right beside you. We can do this! You can do this. Take it one week at a time. I'm so proud I didn't (really) cheat this weekend. A small victory, but a victory in the same. Drink water. Make that your goal this week. It sucks but drink it anyway. Then next Monday find a new small goal to add. Add Coconut oil to your coffee in the mornings. Etc. You've been my cheerleader. Don't give up on us! I'll post more and be your cheerleader too.

Have you visited a doctor to get checked out ahead of time and also get some suggestions about successful weight loss? I know it always seems like I am touting Weight Watchers, but it's my lifeline. It works for me. For myself I would have never had the success I have had on my own, because I needed that framework of discipline and accountability. Others will disagree, this is JMHO. As said above, it DOES take 100% commitment and taking it one day at a time. I know it's going to get better and you are not going to give up.
