I started my new job today! IT's only 2 1/2 hours long, but I love it! I'm a reading and math assistant in a local school district. Today I was with 4th and 5th graders. I can't believe all the tough stuff they are doing! my kids bring things home, but boy oh boy, a lot is expected out of them in class! I also got to sit in on "study island." It's a complete room full of mini-size lap top computers where the kids work on math at at their own pace. I think I need to go back to college to get a refresher course! No wonder my kids are looking at me funny when I don't know what they are talking about! I think i grew up in the stone age! lol.

Oh how exciting starting a new job, and it must be fun, working w/kids! 2.5 hours sounds just right, too! lol Not too much and yet you get out and make a difference. Keep up the great work!

I work in a school as well, and I love it. But you are right, so much is expected of these kids-more than I ever remember doing. Add on to that all of the organized sports and other obligations. Very overwhelming for some. Can't beat the work hours, though!

It sounds like wonderful job, great hours and a sense of achievement, helping those kids. God knows they need help with reading and math! Sounds like they hired the perfect person for the job
