Former Air Force Captain. Mother of 3 beautiful children. Never had a problem with weight until babies came. I'm a working mom so I don't really have time to get to a gym. Home workouts DVDs are my method of choice. I don't "diet." I'm making a lifestyle change in the foods that I eat. I monitor my calories so that I don't over-eat but I still want to be able to enjoy the same meals that my family does. I, along with my husband, want to set examples of a healthy, active, lifestyle for our children.

Staying on track
Oooh, k8yk I like that idea of telling yourself you can have it...in a few minutes. I can see myself forgetting it isn't there. Like the others have said, I'm in the same type of work environment. When they make the announcement that "goodies are located on x floor in this room" I just make it a point to avoid that area all together. When we have an "all hands" meeting and there's cupcakes, cakes, pies...etc. I intentionally stand/sit on the other side of the room close to the door. That way, once we're dismissed I just make a b-line for the door.

Need a buddy! Need to lose 15-20 lbs
This sounds like me too! I'm 32 with 3 kids: 6, 2, and 11 months. I use my busy work and home schedule as an excuse too! I started my path to fitness on Lent. I've been doing my own diet, mainly expending more calories than I take in. I like to be able to eat the same meal with my family so I'm not on a special diet. Smart choices and portion sizes. As for a workout. I've started doing hip hop abs in the morning (I'm an early riser) and Insanity in the evening after I put the children to bed. Hip Hop Abs is so much fun to me. I love to dance. Insanity is just that...INSANE. It kicks my butt but Shaun T is so motivational he keeps me going...and he's easy on the eyes! I'm new to this site but I see a link for some type of buddy list. I'll try that out. We can be online partners too!

Salmon Dinner
Have you had a salmon salad before? Prepare your salmon as you like and break it up within a meal size salad. I enjoy it with balsamic vinagrette. It sounded odd to me at first but now I'm addicted.

iPhone App - feature request
Try the site nutritiondata.com. I cook a lot at home and on this site you enter your ingredients and the serving size of your custom meal and it does all of the calculations for you, making it easier for you to add a new meal to the calorie counter app. Hope this helps.
