Current Weight

Performance: gaining 0.1 lb a week

Goal Weight
150.0 lb
Still to go: 24.0 lb
I'm 27 years old. Married. I've gained 10 pounds since the wedding in Sept 06, and 20 pounds overall since I met my husband. On top of the weight I gained during college, I'm way heavier than I should be, and heavier than I've ever been.

I would like to be at a healthier weight before having kids. I'd also like to get my husband back on the weight loss wagon, since he could lose a few pounds too.

UPDATE: As of 10/17/07 my husband is also down 20lbs!

I need help
Well, I'm currently at 166, and my plan is only 1/2 protein, 1 veg and 1 fruit less than yours. I'm guessing you are pretty close to switching to the lower plan, because you aren't much heavier than me. Its working for me, though at times I feel its too much food. I know it is a way of eating that I can continue even after I've lost all of my weight, which makes me feel more positively about it. Ask them how many calories you should be eating a day, and then track that somewhere ( i use the daily plate website) and if you eat all of your servings and are over on calories, discuss changing your plan.

Good luck, and it does work, if you follow it.

LA/Pure Weight Loss Goes Belly UP
As far as I know my LA isn't closing. I think it was the difference between franchise centers and corporate centers that divided Pure from LA a few months ago.

Dinners for TWO
I never make two dinners. Maybe I'm just lucky with a husband who will eat anything. Get the LA Weightloss cookbook. It has some good recipes, and your husband can doctor his up as he wants. (Mine is a barbeque sauce/western dressing fan!) I like the cheesey beef and broccoli bake and the turkey broccoli bake. I hear the chicken parmesan recipe is really good too, I'm going to try it some time. Sometimes I'll just make some seasoned meat (chicken with no salt fajita seasoning) and chop up a bunch of lettuce and veggies and we make our own salads. (sour cream, tobasco sauce, salsa, cheese or other toppings)

If anything, the cookbook will give you some ideas as to what you can do. Most recipes are one serving, so make the same thing as you are eating, and add something extra. I usually will add a little more meat and veggies to my husbands meal.

Drum roll please
I lost about 5 lbs in my first week on the plan. That's with the two days of juice in there. Your plan will be decided based on your weight and height, and whether or not you are using the LA Lite bars. They'll give you a book with the allowed foods in each category (starches, proteins, veggies, fruits, fats and dairy) and the portion sizes. I get a lot of chocolate LA bars, so thats chocolate twice a day for me, and then if I'm really craving it, I have some milk with light chocolate syrup in it. Chocolate pudding is on there too, but fat free and sugar free only. There are definitely ways of getting chocolate in the diet, but you start to lose cravings when you cut back on the starches that you eat. In the first few weeks I had quite a few questions that I would write down over the week and ask the counselors when I went in. Mainly about foods and how I could substitute one thing or another.

Starting to eat breakfast is a good start. I usually have my smallest meal at dinner, as I am at my hungriest during the day at work and spread the food out so I don't get tempted to check out the vending machine. I haven't touched the vending machine in the three months that I've been on the plan, so that is a huge thing for me!

Good luck on your first few days. I felt pretty sick and was wondering what I was doing to myself the first few days on the plan. Thats just getting used to not eating like a pig, like I used to do, and kind of like a detox. Don't lose faith, it gets better!

Need input
You should also know that there are also soups and drinks that can be substituted for the bars. The bars just taste really good. (to me at least)

Everyone will pump up the diet that they are on at the time. Problem is, if all of them worked the same for everyone, there wouldn't be people doing diets three or four times. Some people can take it off once and then maintain with the knowledge they gained while on the diet. Others need to try it a few times.

I personally would have a really hard time maintaining a weight loss if I didn't have to prepare and shop for my own food while on the diet. I've learned a lot through this process and view it as a lifestyle change that both my husband and I are benefiting from.

I guess we could just say that there are positives and negatives to all diets, find what works for you, and stick with it. I just don't want to scare the original poster away from LA as it is a good, well rounded diet that is working for many people.
