Hi my name is Colleen I'm 43 years old and live in Maine. I have 3 birth children and one adopted. Ranging in ages from 22 to 6. I am a part time hairstylist and full time mom. I have yo yo dieted my whole life found success in 2004 and lost 30lbs by eating low fat low calorie but ever since my son was born (6yrs ago) that method of weight loss has actually caused me to gain weight instead of lose. I somehow manged to lose all but 7 lbs of my prebaby weight by doing different atkins like diets. I am constantly striving to lose "that last 10lbs" and in my journey to do that have tried many different diets and once again have managed only to gain weight. So now with 14lbs to lose I am hoping to have success with the atkins plan and change the way I eat to keep the weight off for good!!

New with questions......
Thank you mummydee for replying!! Yes this is my new way of eating I realize I cannot go back to my "eating regular" again. Like you I think I struggle with grains and carbs in general which is why this seems to be the only diet that works!! I am trying to anticipate this being a long slow road but know it is worth it in the end. I am at this point trying to figure out how to make it so that I am not eating separate meals (dinner at least) then the rest of my family!! If anyone has any idea how to do that I would love some input! I am also a foster mom and have to sometimes deal with kids with food allergies and who are vegetarians which can sometimes add another challenge all together.

New with questions......
Hi I am new to this website as of last week. I started atkins on 1/27/14 and have lost 3 lbs!! I have 10 more to go!! I have a few questions....but first I want to explain my diet struggles...I have always been about 20lbs or more overweight my entire adult life (I'm now 43) and always wanted to lose 20 to 25 lbs but would fail at every diet meaning that I would get up to around 180 (post baby) or so get back down to that 150's 160 range and quit. So in 2004 weighing around 160 I set out to lose that 20 lbs and ended up losing 28 lbs by doing low fat low cal as I have always done plus worked out 6 days a week (taebo was big then) and the weight came off with ease. I managed to keep it off until 2007 when I became pregnant with my son. After his birth I had 30 lbs to lose again!! I started with my usual low fat low cal and exercise and actually gained weight!! So from there I managed to lose all baby weight but the last 7lbs of it. To lose it I switched from diet to diet like the cabbage soup diet, over eaters anonymous diet given to me by a visiting nurse and the 5 factor diet. I have struggled with that 7 lbs ever since. Most winters I find myself wanting to lose 10lbs or so and try some sort of diet. The latest, last winter being the flat belly diet. There was a 3 day fast at the beginning that was supposed to kick start your metabolism and weight loss and after the three days were up I had gained 3 lbs. Despite that I stuck with the diet for a few months only to have gained a total of 7 lbs in the end. When I went back to eating regular I maintained my weight where it was but have been unable to lose any of the 7 I gained. Oh I was also working out during that time doing a combo of weights and cardio. People (including my dr.) kept telling me I was gaining muscle since despite what the scale said my measurements stayed the same. So this time I am going to try and lose the weight first and then add in the working out after I have reached my goal. Has anyone one else experienced this same problem? Also am worried that I will plateau quickly because it isn't a lot of weight to lose just wondering if anyone has had that problem either? one last thing....debating on staying on induction or moving up to OWL next week. If anyone has any advice that would be great!! Thanks!!
