I have decided to stop using the FatSecret site. I relied heavily on the android app to log my meals, but an unresolved bad update rendered it useless. I'm sorry to all my friends here but FS no longer meets my needs.

But rest assured that I'm still going strong! I've pretty much maintained my weight for a year now. I've enjoyed the break and I'm now going on to get rid of those last few pounds.

I may check in from time to time. Meanwhile I wish everyone here the best and hope you all manage to find the way to a happier, healthier you.

====================

In March 2011 I started a journey to improve my life. At a starting weight of 277 lbs, I was ready for the journey to a healthier me and it was the best decision I've ever made. I have now lost over 100 lbs.

Every single step of my journey has been charted right here on FatSecret. My food diary, exercise history and previous journal entries are all available on this site. I will always talk openly and honestly about my weight, body, and lifestyle.

I believe in eating real food, I eschew the concept of diets and I embrace the belief that life is for the living. I'm all about home-cooking, understanding where your food comes from and continually learning how to stay fit and healthy. My goal is healthy, not skinny.

iPhone app and web site
Unfortunately I have to disagree with Kingkeld. The app has had major problems since an update in November 2012. There are many complaints attesting to this on the app store. Among the problems are issues with syncinc, searching, updating, force closing/freezing, and the widget blanking out. At the moment, it's probably easier to simply log into the main site from your phone. So far, the issues have not been addressed.

Eating
I love cooking too! I expecially love that I can enjoy cooking and eat whilst still losing weight in a healthy way. Food can be such an enjoyable thing, and it makes me sad to see people struggling with it when it's possible to have a balance of both food/enjoyment and health.

Why aren't my replies posting?
How strange...I don't think I've ever had any delays with my replies appearing. Not that I've noticed, anyway.

Hardest thing I have ever had to admit to myself.

I think my experience of losing weight and learning to handle other people's responses has been a lot like you Sheonamcc. It took me a while to learn to just smile and say "Thank you" rather than getting weird/awkward/embarrassed about it.

It's really hard to learn to accept compliments, isn't it?

I did have a bit of a breakthrough this weekend, though. I update my profile picture on facebook and got a private message from a friend saying "don't take this the wrong way, but you're looking hot." I simply replied "don't take this the wrong way...but I agree!"

Why shouldn't I be happy with the way I look? In fact, we ALL deserve to be happy with our bodies, no matter what weight we are. Bodies are pretty awesome things.

DRI
That's a good idea for anyone that needs more immediate goals to keep them going!

I actually found that I needed to keep my eye on the end-goal instead and was much more successful once I put in my real goal instead. It's obviously just how my brain works.

Funny how different things work for different people, isn't it? Guess you just got to experiment to find what's right for you Smile
