Hi,
My name is Kat. I am currently 21 years old and I'm no stranger to the weight loss world. I've struggled with my weight since I was little girl. Gaining and losing constantly. It's a total pain in the arse.

I was pretty healthy in high school, playing volleyball and involved in rowing, and I was doing well in college too for the most part. I didn't start gaining weight until my sophomore year and from that point on. I gained a lot of weight.

When I was younger I remember telling myself I would never be over 200lbs. So when I weighed myself back last year (my junior year) I wanted to just die when I saw the scale over 240 pounds. I couldn't believe it. I hadn't even noticed. I had lied to myself continuously that the pants were just being made smaller and that's why I was going up in sizes. I had gone from 11/12 to a size 17.

Well, I tried starting an exercise regimen last year but it didn't work out for me. I ended up quitting. But this year, it was my senior year and I thought to myself I don't want to look back at my graduation photos and be horrified by the way I looked so I decided to take some action.

And I have.

I have been working my butt off and I'm happy to be under 200lbs and I don't want to be over ever again. I'm in the home stretch at this point with graduation in May, I hope to be at my goal.

Thanks for reading!

Kettle bells!
They definitely work to target core areas. I've been using it on my abs and arms, and they have definitely been toning up. I've been using them a little over a month now.

Experience with planet fitness?
I love Planet Fitness when I used to be a member. Sadly, there isn't one around here. The staff was very helpful, especially if you didn't understand how to use a machine, or weren't sure where to start. Also, the people and atmosphere is way more friendly than any other gym I've been to.

I'm slightly confused with my diet
Unfortunately, they make the same basic meals for students. Some of the usual items you will find are, burgers, pizzas, fries...that's the regular food. Also pasta and soup, pasta is regular pasta or whole wheat, but the sauces vary from red sauce to alfredo nightly.

As for the "main course" it varies nightly, but it's either a pork dish, mashed potatoes, tofu, rice, or some type of meat.

Then we have a new station where they have different meals, going from lamb gyros to chilli.

If there is chicken on the main course, it's normally fried, everything back there is normally fried.

I've been sticking to the salad bar when at school
It normally has
Spinach leaves (Which is normally the leafy green of choice.)
I'm not big on lettuce but they have romaine and red leaf lettuce mix.
Peppers, broccoli, shredded carrots, corn, onions, beets, mushrooms, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs mashed up, and cheddar cheese.

The source of protein over there is peanut butter, sliced turkey, sliced ham, and if we are lucky cubed baked chicken breast.

That's our cafe in a nutshell

I'm slightly confused with my diet
I love the idea of eating non-processed foods, but the meal plan at school doesn't exactly see it that way. I will start adding more fruits and veggies to my diet, but I will need to stretch when it comes to meals at my college. I don't want to live strictly on the salad bar all semester.
