Hmmmm... I ran into someone I haven't seen for 30+ years a few weeks ago....their comment? "You haven't changed a bit""". My question in reply was, "gee, I was ALWAYS fat, ugly and old?"
So, now you have my physical characteristics, and NO, I have not ALWAYS been fat, ugly and old. Well, the ugly pretty well came with the birth package, the fat came and went, but the old just kinda crept up and stayed there!
All that being said, I'm pretty easy-going as long as everyone always agrees with me. I'm very happy as long as everything is going my way.
Everything else is just fluff :)

Still trying to lose
I don't fast, ever, as my Dr. won't allow it. He has a list of negatives but I'm sure all the fasters have heard them before.
That said, I walk 4mph/hour for and hour and 15 or 30 minutes at least 5 days a week before breakfast, unless something prevents it. I never considered that to be fasting, as I stil eat breakfast by 9:30 or 10 am. The only reason I don't eat before is that it makes me sick at my stomach if I get hot and sweaty just after I eat.... AND I'm NOT getting up at 5am to eat.. LOL..it can wait!
Katherine...there is NO doubt that your way is working for you! Congratulations to you, you are almost there Smile I think it's important for people to know how many different ways and variations there are in this world. There is truly a good way for everyone. Yours might just be the answer for him.
The important thing is to never give up. If you know you are giving a specific diet 110% and you are not losing or worse, you ARE gaining, switch diets. If you have the perserverance to stick to it then you should have no problem changing. Honesty, I know most people can lose weight on Atkins even if they are immobile, but I personally, think the key to any weight loss is exercise, regardless of how minimal.
Here's hoping everyone finds what works for them quickly and effortlessly and let the others of us always be willing to share what works for EACH of us. Thanks Katherine! (ps I like your new pic!)

mayo has carbs or doesnt have carbs???
<grinning> I think that that is the single most fear in every Atkin's dieters day. ACCIDENTALLY ingesting carbs. Heck, if we're going to get carbs we should be the ones to pick 'em.
There have been times I have been so paranoid that I would NOT drink a fountain soda because I wasn't sure they weren't tainted, or mixed up, or anything... haha. Everything tasted like it had sugar, even when it didn't.
I'm glad your scare is over!

Okay,
I went back through your daily calendar. You are correct, most everyday you were on/at/around 20g.
I don't know your age or level of activity, but I will tell you mine. I am 58 and on average walk 4 miles in an hour, 6 days a week. Other than that my activity comes from taking care of our property and driving our kids all over creation. I get no other structured exercise.
This is my second round with Atkins, the first was over 25 years ago where I lost 35lbs in 13 weeks and kept it off for over 20 years.
THIS TIME around things are a lot different. I attribute it to age. I am losing, but very slowly and I have been under 5 net grams a day for 90 days and am now watching calories too.
After reading your dailies, my gut reaction would be to cut out all the nuts first. The second thought is are you drinking ANYTHING with aspartame. Those two things (nuts and aspartame) have been known to derail people. I know you said no sugar/sugar substitutes, but check the ingredients on everything you are eating... just to be sure.
Next, are you in ketosis? Do you check, and how often?
Other than those things, I'm afraid I am of no help. Quite honestly though, I have never seen Atkins fail. You might just have to back up to absolute zero and start over. At a 90 day mark of 5 net carbs a day I have just now reached the 20lb loss mark. Is it what Atkins did for me before? No. Am I the same as the last time? No. BUT, I am losing and I feel confident that you can too. Give it and yourself a chance... you deserve it!

Hi,
I was just peeking in behind Katherine, and was wondering if you are doing Atkins where you are in the plan? I don't see but one day in your diet calendar where you were even in the 20 gram range.
If you're up to it, I would suggest aiming for under 10 net carbs a day for a week. Keep your fat ratio up, followed by protein. Make sure you DRINK WATER. As much as you can, aim for 64 oz but don't force it.
Seriously, what can a week hurt? If you aren't sure what an under 10 gram day looks like, feel free to dig through my diet calendar, it's open to everyone.
I've had a much slower go of it this time, but it IS going, and that's the goal Smile
Best wishes to you,
Gina

mayo has carbs or doesnt have carbs???
A rule of thumb is that most Mayo has no carbs. ANY brand of mayo style salad dressing (IE Miracle Whip) has plenty.
Agreeing with BBD5 and LizCon, the best thing you can do is add YOUR brand to the database, then you'll always be sure of accessing what you ate.
