kingkeld's Journal, 21 January 2012

I have an announcement to make.

Today, I am - quite literally - half the man I used to be. When I started this journey I was 155 kgs heavy. Today, I weighed in at 77.3 kgs. I have lost half my body weight and then some.

Also, my BMI is now according to my scale at 24.9.

This means two things for me.

1. I am no longer overweight. I am now, for the first time in my life as a grownup, as a teen, and even as a child, in the "normal" weight range.

2. I have reached my goal weight. Yes, I am technically 300 grams away from it, but my goal is to reach a BMI of 25 or less to qualify for my surgery. So I will consider it "mission accomplished".

So, what's next, you ask? Well, not much is REALLY gonna change.

I have to remain at this weight until April, to show that it's not just a fad, and that I can keep it here. I don't consider that a problem at all, however I need full focus to do it. I will do this my sticking with FatSecret, exercise, journals and everything else I've have been doing for the last 15 months.

Then comes the doctor's evaluations, whether I am mentally stable, and all the other things to consider before surgery. I'm not worried about this either, just something that needs to be done.

After the surgery, life goes on. I am now at 77 kgs, and I feel great here. After the surgery, a couple of kgs more will come off, and my plan is basically to keep this as my "wiggle room" for the weight. Then, if I bounce up to 80 kgs, I will have to bounce it back down. I plan to keep logging my food and keeping myself in a short leash. I need this. I will also weigh in daily, and report here on FatSecret.

I have through this entire thing reported on Facebook as well. This, I will probably stop. I will most likely report on Facebook every Saturday, after my weigh-in, before Indulgence Day. Yes, I will keep Indulgence Day. I think a day without too many worries about what I eat is healthy for me.

Now, I will not be a stranger. I will STILL do my daily journal, I will still do my weigh-ins, and I will still do my best to pay it forward. I want to help in any way I can and I want to see all my buddies succeeding. If I could do it, so can you. I am in no way different from so many other people struggling with weight issues. Let's do it!

I want to thank so many people here for being part of my journey. You're simply too many to mention, but all the ones that matter know who they are. Thanks for ALL your comments, hints, helpful advice, motivation and everything else. I hope I can pay it back (and forward) through time.

Of course, I also want to thank all my Facebook friends for helping, supporting, giving me smart-ass comments and "likes". It's meant the world to me, and given me so much motivation. Thanks.

Then - most important - I want to thank Wife. There is NO way I would have had the drive to go through all this without her. SHE is the reason I started, SHE is the reason I finished. Thanks, babe! I love you more than anything.

Wow, that's quite a speech. It makes me feel like I won an award or something. I just can't believe that I am actually there at goal. This last week went SO fast, I lost more than 5 kgs(!) in 6 days, and I just can't believe it.

Did this just happen because I made the decision? Who knows.

So what's happening today? Well, Wife and I are going to Roskilde, a larger down about an hour away from here. We're gonna go do some shopping, have a date-night and celebrate. Sure, it's gonna be dinner out. It's indulgence day. :)

EDIT: slight change of plans. We're going to Copenhagen instead of Roskilde, a good old friend is playing with his band tonight. We're gonna see if we can fit their show into our plans.

I hope you guys will have an awesome weekend. I know I will.

LIFE IS GOOD!

Fantastic... Sunshine girl is right.. It just went all of a sudden with a bang. What a great feeling it must be, to be able to go out today and KNOW that you have reached your goal..... Can I just make a suggestion for another target.... To be under 80kgs after indulgence day... You may not want to do this, as I guess you are fed up with targets and goals - just a thought .... Again, well done and enjoy your indulgence day xx

:-). Thought you would have some sort of goal, buzzing around your head - otherwise it will be difficult to just stop and maintain. After your op, I would think it will be different - much easier in a way - you will have completely "finished" what you set out to do. Then the fun starts - building muscle and definition, and a whole new set of targets and goals you can journal about :-)
