Missychick21's Journal, 12 January 2014

Nothing special about today, except it's Hubby's only day off this week. Usually that just involves watching movies and debating dinner ideas. The house seems so full when everyone is home and so very empty when they are all at work/school. Though I have figured out I just can't do housework with them all home or I drive myself crazy. It makes it look awful over the weekends but I use my alone time Mon-Thurs to clean it back up.

Already started today not the greatest by munching pretzels but filled my cup with ice water so maybe I'll flush the salt out :) Weigh-in is tomorrow, let's see if I accomplished anything. Dr. appointment is also tomorrow, not looking forward to that but I need my prescriptions refilled, though he will just say I'm fat and need to lose weight like always...

Be sure to tell your doctor you're dieting and have lost weight. The scale will tell the story.

I haven't been on there for a while so I am sure my weight is up since the last time :( He is so set on Atkins that he won't believe anything else I am doing will work...

Doctors should believe in healthy eating and excercising and seeinh as that is your plan.he should offer helpful advice and not make u feel bad.

I agree he should but he doesn't, none ever have. They all say the pain I have is because I'm fat and to simply "lose the weight"

Here we have special diet and excercise therapists at the gp the kids and i go is there something like that near you? They put together a plan for u and you have excercise sessions with them according to whatever med. Conditions you have. I've never been i am lucky i don't need it but i read about it when i was waiting there for kids immunisations.

What is gp? Also, I don't think my insurance would cover it...

In this day and age, everyone wants to be on the 'best', the most 'scientific' diet. Everyone who believes that one diet works and all the others are horrible, any diet with a calorie deficit works. You know your plan. Stick to it. It will work if you work it. We're pulling for you.

Diets can become religious dogma.

Thanks Musician :) I tend to ignore 90% of what he says anyway. I just need my meds refilled then I can go another 6 months or so without seeing him again unless I get sick.

Missy, gp is general practioner (like a primary care doctor (pcp) or family doctor. Is it possible for you to change doctor's? Your doctor should not be rude to you! You have feelings! As far as your diet, you have to do what's right for you. I can't do Atkin's. At the same time, I respect others and support other's that do. Each one of our bodies is different and responds differently. We have different lifestyles and needs. For him to push one diet on you and to treat you rudely is wrong. It sounds like you're doing something that works for you and that's what counts. Pretzels is an excellent choice for a snack, too! I keep them on hand at work. I can have 19 fat free mini pretzels and it's only 110 calories. Big Hugz.

Thank you Jillzee :) I was doing Atkins after I first saw him and lost a bit (then gained it all back), but now I don't have a gallbladder so the excess fat would be horrible. Regular food including veggies hurts my stomach but it is still better that loads of fat. Seeing him is more of an insurance thing not really a choice thing. The pretzels I have been munching are big so its about 110 calories in 5 of them but they are perfect for when I need the crunchy salty fix :) Big hugs to you too

Definitely change docs if he treats you that way. I changed awhile back because mine wanted to ship me to a specialist for every little thing. Didn't have the time nor money for that. Now I love my doc and it makes it easier for me to tell her what's going on with me and to pick up the phone and make that apt when needed

Don't be afraid to tell your doctor about the problems you are having with eating. If he has no remedies, ask him to send you to a specialist who will help.

He knows, and I have seen a specialist, that's why I no longer have a gallbladder but other that that my stomach looks "amazing" according to the specialist who put a camera down my throat... I just deal with the stomach pain shortly after eating...You would think I'd be super skinny knowing food hurts and I wouldn't eat but man do I love food! And while I am munching away the thought of tummy pains is a distant memory...well until about 15 minutes later when it hits me like a boulder. Then the cycle starts over...well, because food...
