Day 24 (Week 4): 10 TO 30 POUNDS BY November OR BUST

So I went and worked out this morning!!!! I actually feel pretty good even though waking up at 4:30AM kinda sucked :) I even walked 2 x around the fountian in front of my house while waiting for my ride instead of sittng on my bum the whole time :)

I made sure I was at cardio levels of walking for my age on the treadmmill for 15 minutes. The whole walk on the treadmill was 1/2 an hour with a decent warm-up and a fairly lengthy cool down! Even for much of the warm-up/cool down my heart rate stayed in what it called "fat burn" for my age bracket. Total miles was a little over 1.5. I also did a 1/2 hour round on the weight machines. I have not done these in about ten years so I went really easy on both the weight amounts and the reps but could certainly feel it when I was done. Since this is 10 day free pass, I am not monitoring the weigths too closely. If I pick up a gym membership, I will come up with a tracking sheet at that point. My Wii Fit should be here after the free pass is done so I may do that for awhile (I am thinking I may try and get Mom to foot the gym bill but ONLY if I know I am going to stick with it.)

Old Man Scale was a little mean to me today, BUT a couple things factor into that. I weighted at a different time of the morning (I NEVER get up that early) and a MUCH different amount of time awake (which I find affects it even more) and not after my shower. (all because of the gym trip.) So, I will not sweat it and see what he has to say for himself TOMORROW morning when I can weigh at my normal timing.

Looking at my food plan for today and considering how low on cals I was yesterday. I may be eating more like 1500-1600 today which is okay with the exersize, I think. (if I have time after work or during lunch I may wander a bit but not anything like a speed walk. just a little motion. We shall see how my feet/legs feel! Especially after the treadmill and weight machines this morning. I figured it out, I think it has been like 10 years since I went to a gym.

Floor Goal: 250 (13lbs down from the beginning of the challenge, 16.5 down from when I first started watching in August, and 4 from now.)
Mid-range: Weigh in at 245 for Thanksgiving with my folks, which is 18lbs from the beginning of the challenge. 21.5 from when I first started and 9 from now. Half way there!!!!
Ceiling goal: Definitely aiming for this one now. I cannot weight! 1 year from now I will be at least 50 - 75lbs lighter How exciting is that! I am actually starting to be able to feel my ultimate goal weight is possible even though I still have a lot of work to do.

1st things first. Get myself to 250, then 245 then worry about the others!

Great job! Your exercise commitment today is really inspiring. I would not worry about the scale reading today. You will soon see your work reflected on the scale in the coming days. Keep it up!

Wow! 4:30!?! You're working out way harder than me. I got to step it up. I see your 4:30 and raise you a 3:00AM!!! Alright... never mind... bad idea. LOL Anyway, you're doing great. I haven't had a chance to mess around with Wii Fit, so tell me if it's worth it.

I will when it gets here! A bunch of people here at FS seem to LOVE it! I doubt it would be a replacement for your strength training, but it may well be a fun alternative cardio. I will see and let you know. Yeah my ride was getting to my house around 5:15 so yeah 4:30. No that I will do THAT very often LOL. I AM a gamer chick after all ROFL.

Awesome job getting up early to go to the gym and finding ways to stay moving! I'm impressed. It's great that you're not harsh on yourself w/the scale. That's the way to do it. I usually hate going to the gym but feel soooo much better afterwords b/c the endorphins are up and a sense of accomplishment envelops me. Rock on, girl! It takes 21-30 days to form a habit. Keep on staying active for a month and it'll become second nature to you! You deserve it.

Great job! I just can't get myself to go to the gym before dawn. I bet it feels good, though, once you're there. That is my big challenge--getting there! It helps if you have a driving buddy. It gets easier too, once you're in a routine. Don't forget you might gain some muscle lifting again. Take measurements so you'll notice if you lose inches. :)

Great idea on your goals. Small goals are easier to reach and help keep you motivated when you reach them. I had forgotten to set solid goals for myself. Thanks for showing how important they are! Keep up the good work and Thanks for inspiring me to get up and move. I'll have to try the walk instead of lunch tomorrow.

I like your three tier goal format. I have such a hard time trying to figuring out goals.

Well I started witht he challenge I was on. 10 - 30 lbs by Novemebe or bust. BUT we had to consistently lose 1 lb a week and it was about 12 weeks in the challenge. So my floor must do goal became 13lbs, 1lb per week oklu one extra to reach an even number (250). In Mary Kay we tend to have a floor and ceiling goal aim high but MUST do the low so I applied that principle here. Thus my original ceiling gaol was the 18lbs. When that seemed more than likely I decided I need to stretch myself more and changed it to midrange and added the ceiling goal.
