My name is Sima and I live in Northern Virginia.

I have been overweight since about 4th grade. Never so much as when I started this journey here on FS in August 2008. At that time I realized rather abruptly that it was time to stop and reverse the trend. I was unable to fence (rapier combat) at our big event in August due to growing out of my armor and there was no way I was tryingt o find a larger set OR giving up one of my favoirte things to do!

I have a LOT of healthy habits but I have some not so healthy ones too that I need to address.

My goals are simple eat healthier, move more, shed this weight for health, happiness, better self-esteem, and better clothes :D

Update: I am fencing again. Doing yoga twice a week and even with the hiccup that was Dec '08 I am continuing this journey. I have my Wii Fit and a sometimes walking buddy. I will MAKE these lifetime habits.
I had a little blow in early January with pretty horrid Cholesterol Results, but that too I will fix. With medication AND continuing down this road to a healthier me, riding the wagon with everyone else here!

I am truly thankful for all of my buddies here on FS and with your help I am sure I CAN and WILL reach my goals!

My Spike Diet Review
Fun. I kinda naturally do that anyway because I don't like to deprive myself or I know I will not stick to it. I may have to pick it up as well, we shall see Smile

Body Parasites. EWWW
Actually a lot of parasites are necessary for health. If I recall correctly we need them, depending on which one we are talking about. If they are generically just saying parasites I would not trust them.

Time Magazine Aug 9th
So what I am seeing is that things like the 10k Steps systems might be a good way to go (and the way for me). I know that has been successful for me in the past. And in order to reach 10k steps you have to put extra "movement" all through your day or you will never make it. But that movement does not need to be strenuous so should not cause the over compensation the article talks about. The article makes sense to me based on my own habits. It does not mean don't exercise, I don't think it just means that. But it may not need to be the intense rigorous version we see advertised every where. That works great from some and I think nearer the end when you are toning and such may well be required, but I have a LOT of weight to go. I think walking my steps to get at least below 200lbs might well be better for my physic and psyche!
