just_chillin76's Journal, 11 July 2013

I have been recording my food, it's been painful to see the calories add up so quick. So now I know I can't eat like I normally do. The fast food, pop, and sweets for snacks has to go. I don't normally have junk in the house. I eat well in front of people, but when I'm alone I will stop at a gas station or fast food place and throw away the evidence. I have to make time for exercise as well. In the morning I'll go to the gym, and the evening walk.
One of the hardest parts of weight loss for me is accepting the fact that it's going to take time to lose weight. I still would love to be under 200 lbs by my birthday in Oct, but idk if that is reasonable. So I'm going to try and make it by the end of the year.

I know! The calories they totally sneak up on you if you are not watching them. Sooooooo easy to over do it. I've recently changed my calorie intake to 1500 from 4000. So I get it. :) Don't beat yourself up...just keep trying to make better choices every day. Be blessed!

Little steps at a time. I started switching out my snacks at work with healthier ones, like fruit and veggies or yogurt instead of snack bars. After that change stuck it seems like it's easier to make another small change, like a healthier lunch every day. You may not make it under 200 by Oct., but you will get there with all the hard work you put in!

Happy to come on board as a buddy! Yes, the calories do pile up very quickly, but fortunately if you choose healthier foods you can eat a lot more for less. Plan your meals ahead and then it's up to you to discipline yourself to stick to it. You can do this! Just always keep your focus on why you are making these changes and it will get easier as each week passes with you being able to stick to your plan. Allow the momentum to build up and it will spur you on!

If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you have to think of this as a life style change, not a diet. If you want to, you can start by making healthy food substitutions. Instead of buying a Safeway Cafe Bowl Chicken Caesar Salad, make a Chicken Caesar Salad at home! That way you can customize it to how you like. Pssst, go heavy on the lettuce and light with the dressing, some brands have 120 calories in two tablespoons! Good luck and don’t get discouraged, your journey has only begun.
