Ever go to clean one thing, and it just leads to another and another and another? Happened with cooking today. I was just going to throw some sweet potato in the crockpot as it was beginning to sprout, and the next thing I know it was 4 hours later and I had not only the sweet potatoes but also borscht cooking, cole slaw, Italian parsley pesto, cashew-tofu ricotta, and a clean kitchen after addressing the mess from all that. A lot of it was trying to use things up, as I'm always over-buying produce.

It's going to be in the high 90s today, and we don't have AC, so was also trying to avoid anything that would require turning on the oven.

Taking a break from tracking calories today, as it's a bit too much home-cooking without regard to recipes and just eating rather than measuring for me to do it. I am eating mostly whole plant foods -- for lunch my husband and I split a plate of cut up veggies with homemade hummus. Also trying to hit the goals for fruits, veggies, etc. on the Daily Dozen app, although I'll probably only get one serving of greens in, not two. Also taking a real rest day from workouts. Feeling really good about where my weight and fitness level are going.

No photos, but I was really happy to get my pace below 17 min/mile on a 4.2 mile hike at the park this morning.

I'm truly bewildered by calorie needs calculators at this point. I got down to 5 pounds lighter than I am now just fine on 1800 calories without consistent exercise. After a power walk, FS tells me my maintenance calories are in the 1600s. Google Fit is even worse -- it seems to think I can live on air. Lesson here: start with a calculator, certainly, but listen to your body. They're not infallible.

I've decided my goal should be to have a waist again. Ain't menopause grand? 😂

Going to try a drop-in yoga class at a local church today. Wish me luck. I'm completely inept at yoga. But hey, it's good to learn something new! Keeps the brain sharp. And I could really stand to work on balance and flexibility.

Happy Thursday, everyone!
