HELP!!! For the last 18 years I have dealt with kidney failure. Over the years I have gained 180 pounds. Recently, I decided to make a change in my life. I lost close to 30 lbs. I was doing conventional hemodialysis at a clinic. I am no longer able to do hemodialysis. I have started peritoneal dialysis (pd). This wouldn't be so bad, but I have to carry an extra 2 kilos of fluid at all times. Also, the worst part is the solution is concentrated with dextrose. With the help of my pd staff we were able to come up an approximate calorie count of my daily fluid exchanges. It came out to be approx. 750 calories per day. I am trying to maintain a diet of 1500 - 2000 calories a day which is difficult when almost half of my allowance is taken without eating a single bite. I would like some advice on how to keep my current calorie goal without losing out on my protein or feeling hungry all the time.
