Forgot to weigh myself first thing this morning so I just checked it. I'm holding steady at 140 lbs. Which is good. I don't want anymore precipitous weight drops like I had last week.
I've studied the chemical reaction of how the body burns calories and now understand exactly why more than 2 lbs lost per week is
always a sure sign of muscle loss
.
So hopefully next week the scale will read no more than 138.
I've also finally made the switch to ELOO and now prefer it to the sugar water. Oddly I don't have a problem with drinking the ELOO straight from the measuring spoon. Most people have to mix it with water. I might do that still just to make absolutely sure I don't develop a liking for ELOO.
Liking the flavor = loss of ability to lower your set point.
I'd rather stick with oil now as a method of fat loss simply because I believe it's healthier in the long run than spiking one's body constantly with sugar.
Also...I achieved complete appetite suppression with one tablespoon whereas I have to use 4 tablespoons of sugar each drink to get the same effect.
And of course I limit my starch carbs (corn, wheat, rice or their derivatives) and sugar.
More than anything else Shangra-La has freed me to actually choose and enjoy eating a healthier diet. My breakfast typically consists of mixed veggies, cold-water fish or organic eggs (for the protein and omega 3s) and sometimes some berries or fruit.
My one remaining vice is lunch. I know it violates Shangra-La principles about 'ditto foods' but for lunch I always have a Taco Bueno bean burrito w/o chili sauce(434 calories total), a bag of corn chips (270 calories) and a diet coke. Not the greatest meal as those 2 items alone add up to 704 calories. None of my other meals add up to so many calories and I eat way more food. However, Shangra-La has made it so eating more than those 2 items makes me feel overly-stuffed.
Hmm..I think I'll switch to Taco Bueno's party burrito (no chili sauce) instead of their big one and see if I still feel satisfied. The party burrito is only 270 calories (and that's with cheese). By switching to the Party Burrito I can save 164 calories. That's 2 hours worth of walking I won't have to do in order to burn that 164 calories. At 140 lbs 1 hour of walking burns about 100 calories.
In the evening I'll eat a small can of tuna (you know - the individual serving size of 60 calories) and a bowl of soup (Volumetrics) and sometimes (if I have it on hand) a mixed green salad with balsamic vinegar. If there's no salad on hand I'll eat mixed veggies again.
I never snack anymore. I simply have no desire to do so. Shangra-La has made that desire vanish. If I stop in a 7-11 and see the rows of candy bars, chips, dip, sodas and donuts I feel zero desire for any of it where before I used to crave them.
What a relief to be freed from the Sugar and Starch Demons.

Ugh. I just weighed myself this morning and the scale read 140 lbs. That's too much. If I lose more than 2 lbs a week that means I've lost muscle. And muscle is not something I can afford to lose.
I've been eating too little. I'm going to have to boost my food intake. Shangra-La has been working so well I've gone 10-12 hours at a time forgetting to eat then trying to make up for it in one evening meal. Obviously that's not working.
I have to remember to eat even when I don't feel hungry. I can not afford to lose any more muscle. That is a recipe for weight regain if I do. :(

I'm back on Shangra-La. And once again it's doing its magic. Suppressing my cravings for starch carbs and sugar. And I'm back down to 144 lbs. The point where I last fell off the bandwagon.
Hopefully I won't fall off again.

Hmm...Gittleman's Fat Flush is harder to follow than I anticipated. It's not easy completely anything with wheat, corn, sugar, etc.
Still I'm cutting back and hope soon to eliminate it completely.

I'm switching to shangra-la diet's ELOO and going to combine that with Gittleman's Fat Flush Diet plan. My weight keeps wanting to hover between a low of 144 lbs in the morning and 150 lbs at night.
I need to do something different to lose 1 lb a week until my body wants to stay at 120 lbs permanently.
