Sunrise's Journal, 11 February 2012

It took all week for the scale to register a measly pound, but today I left the 230's behind forever!! Whoop! I love dropping into a new decade of numbers! I also dropped below 40% body fat this week (39.8%) so I got two milestones for the price of one!! I'm really amazed at how much different I look. Even though my weight is still pretty high, I think I look a lot better at this weight now than I did a couple years ago when I was at the same weight. I am convinced the difference is entirely attributable to weight lifting. It changes body composition like nothing else. According to the scale, I've lost 41.5 pounds, but according to body composition tests, I've lost 50 pounds of FAT and gained 8.5 pounds of lean body mass. To anyone reading this - if you're not incorporating weights into your routine - think about it. And, don't be content to lift like a girl - lift heavy!! The scale doesn't tell you everything - it's all about body composition (fat versus muscle) :).

Here's a picture of me at 230 pounds. Although I still have quite a ways to go to get where I want to be, I feel much better about how I look. I can actually enjoy the journey because I no longer hate my body!

229.5 lb Lost so far: 28.5 lb.    Still to go: 64.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
