judibird's Journal, 02 January 2010

Good Morning! Well it has been awhile since I have written in my journal. Holidays and such. I found myself sneak eating on 12/30. I was in bed with a box of junior mints hidden under my covers. Boy that was a wake up call. Of course I finished them but the next day I told my daughter about it. It really scared me how easily old habits can creep up on you.

I have been working on being more aware of my feelings and my needs. Two different things. I so want to retire at the end of the year and am working hard to that end. I want to be able to spend more time with my sisters in California and have more time to play with my miniatures. I have pretty much worked full time for almost over 40 years and just last year I was feeling ready to retire. Must be old age...ha ha.

The good news is the weight although it fluctuates in manageable. As I near my one year anniversary since I started being good to my body I get more nervous that I will not be able to maintain. I do now what to do and if I just be honest with myself and others I think I can do this. I think this is the hardest part of the journey.

Oh yes I have started exercising. Just 8 minutes a day but it is a start.

Well I will leave you now. I have 40 nesting table to finish by next Saturday. Not sure if I can complete them but will try. Talk to you soon.

Well done on spotting the old habits creeping in. Its so easy isn't it? I think that once we get used to the weight fluctuating and not just going slowly up and up it becomes easier. I just know you can maintain what you've achieved. :)

Thanks flaxseed. Yes it is easy, but when you figure I have been in yo yo mode with my weight for 50 years I have gotten pretty good at it. I am glad I recognized it early. This is a way of life and I must approach it as such.

The holidays brought great temptation my way. I thought I'd finally gotten over the eating when I'm not hungry bit, but apparently not. If it was in front of me I ate. So, I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it feels like we are taking too many steps backwards, but as long as we stay dedicated to success and be mindful of our goals, it will be all right. I have faith in you. Good luck this week.

Nice to see you journaling again...I've been pretty lax too through the holidays but getting back on track now, with little damage done - less than 5#s this Christmastime - and for me, that's success.

WOW! I have worked with the substance abuse population in the past, and one of the things we tell our clients is, "Secrets keep you sick" So, by telling your daughter it left no reservations for you to be able to continue that pattern...GOOD INSIGHT! Keep up the good work, and you will be a ten minutes of exercise in no time!!! :)

You have done so wonderful Judi. And good for you for starting to exercise. Start with baby steps and you will work up to more. Your chart is amazing.
