Spot on my scalp acting up again, but never really healed up completely, ongoing for 9 months.
It's not cancer. But what's keeping it from healing is acantholysis. Our own immune system attacking certain cells.
My biopsy shows: "solar keratosis with acantholysis" {Acantholysis is the loss of intercellular connections, such as desmosomes, resulting in loss of cohesion between keratinocytes,}.
looked up acantholysis: quote:
Acantholysis - A microscopic pathology term that describes separation of keratinocytes from each other within the epidermis usually due to the loss or compromisation of intercellular attachments (desmosomes). This process causes “rounded” keratinocytes that appear to be detached and floating freely within the epidermis.

Side effects of hydroxyzine (steroids) are worse than the condition. Found over 15 Common side effects, and multiple more serious effects, make using drugs, like always, a bad idea.
I'm going to ask that they remove the entire lesion area.
I asked this 9 months ago, finally got most of it removed by a different dermatologist.
Going back to this dermatologis Tomorrow.
