Hoffner's Journal, 14 January 2015

I need encouragement! Even though I have been successful with my weight loss, it seems that I will always be on a diet. (I am defining diet as only being able to eat certain foods with little to no variation.) The smallest change from my food routine is a weight gainer. I am still eating exactly the same way I did in 2013 to begin weight loss. Feeling down right now, tears in my beer, it would just be nice to have a bowl or slice or a piece of something off limits without the worry of weight gain and I know it isn't possible. My sweet/carb tooth needs to be extracted. Oh, happy day!

Hoffner, it's not a diet, it's a way of life, you can either embrace it or not. If you care to indulge now and again up the exercise, that's what I do. Now that I'm at my goal I do have a beer and I do eat things now and again I normally wouldn't but I know I have to run another mile or walk a couple more. I would love for my sweet/carb tooth to be extracted too but I'm not ever going to let it win, again.

Hi Sunkeeper and smiles to you for reaching your goal! Thanks for reminding me of the facts. I know it's not a diet and this is just the way I must eat and have eaten since March of 2013. I am usually upbeat and try to encourage others. Sorry about the whining and poor me attitude. As for the beer, try Bud Select 55 with only 1.9 carbs and 55 calories. At that amount I figure I can have two for the carb count of one. Thank you again!

Not sure if I can get that beer here but will have a look for it, thanks. I think we all get a pass on whining now and again, life gets to all of us at times but the trick is to quickly pick up your boots and get on getting on. Seems your there, glad to remind you any time, this is worth it.

So sad that you are so limited. You have no info posted so not aware of what your limitations are. I wouldn't be able to stick with an extremly limited plan. My way of eating for life is extremly varied, I love to cook, am a foodie and love to cook, am always trying new things. I do limit my self to no processed foods or junk foods and limit sugars. I eat lots of whole foods; veggies, fruits, whole grains, legumes, some dairy and a spattering of meat and dairy. When I do delve into processed say someone else's cooking, like yesterday's food day at work I'm in trouble physically. I do have beer and wine sometimes now, more often than I should. I'm below goal at 130, maintaining for the past few months 60+ pounds lighter. It works for me.

I've been at or below my goal weight for almost 2 years now, it'll be 2 years Apr 5th. The odd time I do feel like indulging myself with french fries or something else equally as dumb, the mood passes quickly usually but if not I have it and run an extra mile, it's really not a biggie to me at all. I've never felt deprived as I too like to cook and really enjoy trying out all the great recipes. Hoffner's got this, she's a long timer too. We all get down now and again needing someone to remind us there are worse things in life then taking care of ourselves.
