Annabelle3117's Journal, 15 March 2014

Good Morning!!! Quite a surprise on the scale for me this morning, and I can't complain about that. In my head: "Hey what do you weigh? .... 195.8.... noooo, shut up!" Me, seriously? Insanity, I say! Basking in that realization for a moment... ahhhhhhh.

Okay, yesterday... boy do I have a story to tell you! So I told you yesterday that I was going to head to the gym when my husband got home. We all got home, and I did not want to go. Every bone In my body wanted to spend the warm spring like afternoon with my husband and kids. But then I was like NO. lol My buddy mars goes after work, sacrificing time at home with the family, I can do the same. So I went to do a 5k. I started out on the treadmill slowly increasing my pace until I felt warmed up, then I increased it to a jog and set off on my merry way. I had only planned on jogging 1/2 mile, then heading back down to a walking pace, but I got to the .5 and thought.. "I can keep going, if I want to". So I did. I continued to run one full mile!! I took a break for about eight minutes, continuing on at walking pace, then I thought... "I could do that again". So I did! I didn't want to lol, there was a mental war being waged, good vs. evil...

"Just stop this is too much too fast"
"NO! I'm not dying, I CAN do this!"
"You're going to hurt yourself, running one mile is admirable enough, don't push yourself over the edge"
"I will never know what I can do if I don't try"
"You've done enough, stop at the 3/4 mark."
Jillian Michaels - "I'm tired of hearing your excuses Yolanda, Just finish the damn mile. RUN"

Yes, she lives in my head lol. So I ran for a total of 2.2 out of my 3.1 miles yesterday. Quite an accomplishment indeed. I pushed myself, never knew that I could do that. It won't be long now before I'm running it non stop. Oh, and for the record my new 5k time is 45:30min. I started at over 56min.

Then came the dinner dilemma.. oh my! We ordered subs from our favorite pizzeria. I ordered my favorite, a twelve inch Italian sub... ugh, to die for. Here is what I did different though, I split it with my kids! Whoop Whoop, no tempting leftovers and I'm saving money. I cut my half of the sandwich in half, so I had two 3inch pieces of sandwich and I thought to myself, okay I'm going to try and eat this mindfully. I'm going to eat slow, and really taste this. Here is how the first piece of the sandwich went down... "Nom Nom Nom That was really good". lol I have a tendency to 'shaggy' my food, especially overly delicious foods. (You've all seen shaggy eat on the show Scooby doo, right) Luckily I had cut the sandwich in half so I had a second opportunity to do it right. I took a break, I took some breaths... then "Nom Nom Nom, gone". I looked at my husband and told him to give me his sandwich because I needed more practice.... bahahahaha, I'm hilarious. It really was good though, and it satisfied. I will work on the mindful eating.

So today Is the day! Votes are in and I've made my decision, Lord I'm chopping off my hair and donating it! I've found some cute medium length styles that I'm hoping will look good on me but there's only one way to find out. Plugging my nose and jumping in with both feet. Here goes nothing! Today is my off day, although I've been putting an awful lot of thought into my food choices and calorie content for an off day lol. I do want to stay at my maintenance number though, not a binge fest.

I hope that everyone is feeling joyful and blessed today.

Color me impressed! I've only dreamed of being able to overcome my impediments to running. When I used to work out really regularly at the gym, I fast walked on the treadmill on various inclines. I eventually started trying to intersperse running and in the beginning I could only do it for 40 seconds. Over the course of two months I faithfully tried to increase that time. The best I was able to do was just shy of 2 minutes. I guess some of us just weren't meant to run.

Wonderful journal Kiddo - I'm smiling ear to ear. Good on you on all accounts - enjoying your running and the subs. Yep, we do get served way too much ((notice I don't address exercise, not an addict yet but I have had a few moments when I want to keep going because the 'song' just started)) food and splitting it saves money and the midnight madness for the leftovers. You read totally happy and it's spreading to me just reading. Here's to your wonderful day continuing and good on you for donating hair.

Wow for the hair. That's wonderful. It will help someone with their self-image. What a great gift. As to taking time away from the family to exercise, it's harder for women to do that. The nurture nature is so strong, but you have to. If you're not healthy and doing something just for you from time to time, you won't be as good to them as you could be. Have a great day. Congrats on the weight. :)

Love it!! I play the same mental game with myself when I do my runs, and Jillian is in my head yelling at me too. :) If we don't push ourselves, we'll never know just how much we can do, or how much we've improved. Good for you!! You're doing great with your 5K's! I'm working on my eating this weekend and struggling, but reading your journal and the mindful eating, I'm going to implement that this weekend. :)

Yo I am SOOOO proud of you! Way to do everything right today...the running and the hair. I enjoyed the day running around with my hubby and two daughters. They both got their ears pierced today...look so nice...like princesses. I gave myself permission today to have the buffet at KFC. Was the only meal I ate...midway through the afternoon. Will see what the scale says tomorrow.
