YYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!! Halfway to my goal!!!!
"Whoa, halfway there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, and we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer..."
(thanks to Bon Jovi)

Last week I was +0.1 pounds from the halfway mark. Today, I'm at halfway -0.1 lbs. I'll take it! ;-)

Thank you all! I feel so grateful for all the support -- from my FS diet buddies and well-wishers, from my husband and friends, and (strange, but true) from the kindly workers at the company cafeteria.

All the cafeteria folks have been incredibly helpful ever since I started getting serious about losing weight. I try to bring my lunch to work, but some days (or, let's be honest, weeks) I just can't get organized enough to pack lunch, so I hit the cafeteria. They let me weigh portions on the salad-bar scale, they tell me how many ounces of meat are in the main course or in a sandwich, they happily give me a double portion of veggies for a side dish instead of the default veggie+starch, they leave off the bread or the gravy at my request -- and, most of all, they always say something kind and encouraging when I come through the checkout line! I plan to write a wildly enthusiastic thank-you letter to their manager.

Now for the second half!!! :-)
149.9 lb Lost so far: 50.1 lb.    Still to go: 29.9 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Well done you! (I know just how you feel, as I reached my own halfway point last week. You've now lost more than you have to lose. And what a great idea to get the cafeteria staff on board. I've found people are amazingly supportive when they know you're really serious. Thanks, too, for the totally hilarious co-opting of Bon Jovi. I'll always think of this when I hear that song again!

THAT IS SO WONDERFUL, I think you are amazing to work out the food issues at the cafeteria. I have asked a lot more questions this past year myself and have found it amazing that people will really work with you. Today, at Starbucks, I wanted a "skinny" pumpkin latte, which I found out they don't have, it is 300 calories so I ordered a skinny vanilla latte which has 120 calories. I am learning too. I usually take fruit with me no matter where I go during the day and it helps to fill me up when I am really hungry and if I need to eat something how bad can it be that I binged on apples, etc. or carrots ,etc. Good Job

@CCerza, thanks! I understand about those yummy pumpkin spice lattes. When I first signed up and saw that FatSecret in its wisdom had given me a jack-o'-lantern as my avatar, I laughed and laughed, because I love pumpkin in any way, shape, or form! Pumpkin muffins... pumpkin pie... pumpkin cheesecake... pumpkin ravioli... Oh, well, at least pumpkin soup is healthy! :-)

OK Mary ... I actually was the healthiest when I was on a Navy base and you could choose how much and what you wanted to eat ... discipline! You are doing great ... eat 10 almonds when you get hungry. kills hunger.

Thanks, Ed! Almonds are indeed awesome. I just have to be careful to stop at 10 of them. :)
